The skin on your hands regenerates faster than usual, which will make the tattoo go blurry faster than usual. Which may mean like, 20 years instead of 30, but still. If you go in to chat with a tattoo artist about it and he doesn't tell you that, ditch him because he's probably kind of sleezy.

Not that anyone gives a shit, but I think the only time that tatoos look good is when you really go all the way with them. All the way down the arms, or on the whole leg, etc.
Or, if you're a large scary man. Tattoos work okay there as well.
Otherwise, from a mid distance, it just looks like you got some dirt on you.
