Task Manager is broken... Any suggestions on how to fix it? - by kodan50

No, this is not for me. I am trying to help someone fix their Task Manager program.
It is currently running in tiny footprint mode. I had him double-click on the gray/tan frame to bring it out of tiny footprint mode, but he says it is not working.
Any suggestions on why Task Manager would not remove itself from that foorprint mode when you do the regular things to remove it from footprint mode? He states that it is in by default when it opens. He can still close it with the esc key, or terminate it's process.

I would suggest using regedit and going to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\TaskManager. There should be a registry value called 'Preferences' under there that contains the task manager display mode among other things. Export the registry branch as a backup first, and then just delete the "Preferences" key. Next time the task manager is opened it should display in normal mode.

Thanks for the suggestion. He hasn't been online for a while, so I haven't been able to check it, but I think that should do the trick.
