I had a look at this as I was interested for my own forum.
While the basic version is free for forum owners the app that Tapatalk provides to end users costs $2.99 if he wants more than read only access. Since TTLG already sports a read-only (
http://www.ttlg.mobi/) mobile version that would be the only option to make any sense.
Additionally the Tapatalk app provides access to many forums. If as a forum owner you want an app that's branded to your site and only accesses your forum, you pay a hefty fee: $999 per mobile platform.
Conclusion: Every iPhone/iPad has a browser that can access the full site. If mobile write access would be deemed necessary for phones that are incapable of displaying an actual website, then extending the features of TTLG's existing mobile site would be far preferable.

I think its a good idea to at least look into implementing Tapatalk support. It doesn't look too complex and won't cost is anything, so it looks like a win-win situation.
