Okay; I've searched til I'm turning blue, but can't find any threads, etc., on how to take screenshots in DE:IW. I'm replaying after several years, but I don't think I ever knew how to take sshots in IW in the first place. Anyone, please? Thanks.

Not sure how using the game. But you can use fraps!:thumb:

Thanks Stingm. I'll give Fraps a try.

Okay; Fraps is working, but every time I hit the hot key to take a sshot, it closes the game. Have tried using alternate hot keys, but they all have the same effect of shutting the game down immediately.

Yeah, I don't think there is a way internally. Fraps is unobtrusive and the demo lets you take screenies just fine though.
Edit: Ok I was a little slow there. What do you mean by shutting the game down? It crashed to desktop?
I can play and use F7 ok just now in fraps v 3.2.3 . I have had some trouble with graphics drivers lately and am using relatively ancient ones (relatively ancient OS too, for all that) That might be helping, but I really don't know.

I haven't got the game installed but I've got a vague memory of the "*" button for screenshots.

I tried changing the 'sshot' in the default.ini file, to no avail. And yes, every time I take an sshot with Fraps, it causes the game to crash to desktop. Doesn't matter which key I assign to be the hotkey, the game still crashes - though I do end up with a nice screenshot inspite of the crash. Go figure! :weird: I still have to reload the game and given the load times, it's a pain.

Try launching the game through the Steam client (using the "Add a Non-Steam Game" option) and using the provided screenshot taking facilities. The default bind for taking snaps is F12.

Thanks Eva; I used Fraps sparingly and finally got through the game with a few good sshots, even though the game crashed to desktop every time I hit the Fraps hotkey. If I ever play it again I'll try your suggestion. Still had fun playing it, though.
Right now I'm moving on to Morrowind: got the GOTY edition and am going to see how badly I can screw things up in the game by messing around with the TES Construction Set. ;)
