I went to take some screenshots from FU1, but they come up as not valid PCX format in Paint Shop Pro. Currently I'm stuck with Win98 on my computer, so I can't fire up 2K to see if its version of paint handles them.

hmm... I don't have any screenshots sitting around to check, but try (
http://www.irfanview.com/) Irfanview. It's small, free, and handles lots of formats, so maybe it will comprehend it.

IrfanView complains about the headers, so maybe the data is valid for a pcx file, but the proper headers are not included? In any case I can tell you that (
http://www.gimp.org/) The GIMP (v2.2.8) and (
http://www.imagemagick.org/) ImageMagick Display (both of which are free) understand them.

The GIMP worked. Takes forever to work on this old clunker though. Is there a way of doing batch conversion?
I'll have to see if the Win95 version of FU1 can output proper files. I've got a massively stripped version of FU95 somewhere, that should be able to use the missing resources from the dos version. But I don't have time to muck around with such things for the next day or two.

Hmm... it seems likely, but I have no idea how. My GIMP knowledge tends to accumulate on a need-to-know basis.
If you used ImageMagick OTOH, batch conversion is a doddle, as aside from the ImageMagick Display application it's all command-line tools.

I'll have to give that one a go. FU95 shots are also unreadable by standard apps.

Hi,
Use the paint program that comes with your windows OS. Then you can export to another format.
Adobe Photoshop 6 works as well, expensive.
