Contstant bill-boards and hoardings and advertising wank splattered over every bus stop and item of street furmiture are as abnoxious as graffiti any day of the week. I have strange difficulty condemning one while wimping out and pretending the other isn't a grotesque display of anti-social affrontary.

It's a matter of opinion, really, but I would imagine that at least the ads went through proper channels before they ended up where they did. I'm not saying that some ads aren't pure crap, though.

Theoretically. Over here the main busline has a monopoly on public transport in our city, and will use their size to bully out competition. I'm just a wee bit skeptical that results in the lowest possible prices for the public.

Ah, so much for socialist Europe. Over here city buses are run by the government whereas suburban/country buses are run privately (and subsidised I think by the government). Only the city stops are big enough to have advertising and therefore any revenue goes to the government bus service.
