it's okay, once they get to college they will get to play full-tackel football and get the hell beat out of them

Oh good god. Back when I was in elementary school, we were paddled everyday, playing Red Rover clothsline style, and daring each other to grab electric fences. I can even remember the veritable threat to life and limb that the monkey bars represented...
Did you have to walk 15 miles barefoot through rain, hail or shine to get there, grandpa?

Clearly you have never witnessed the horror of falling through a tangled mass of metal bars to land on concrete. Oh how we laughed.
I would still take it over lawsuit tag.

Red Rover, Red Rover, We Call Renzatic Over!
Who didn't love letting go at the last second and watching the runner skid face-first into the ragged schoolyard asphalt? Let us hope that the wicked joys of childhood will survive to torment another generation.

Geezus christ. My school never had rules like this because, as bad as it was, the kids weren't as obviously sadistic and violently cruel and you lot were.

No way! If they broke the line then they'd get to be in the blockers line, and that meant we lost. What we'd do was lift up and swing our arms forward right when the rusher was about to make contact and clothsline their ass.
If bruised necks built character, then we made leaders of men that day.

Did anyone else play Duck, Duck, Goose? Some of the kids would slap you upside the head hard enough that your teeth rattled & you saw stars. Our monkey bars had these nice, thick, rubber mats under them so the landing wasn't bad. Of course, that just encouraged everyone to climb higher & do even more stupid tricks. Don't forget Dodge Ball which has already been banned at some schools.

Why ban dodgeball? It's so fun getting a direct hit on someone. :p:cheeky:
pavlovscat on 19/10/2006 at 15:16
That would be exactly why. Poor little kiddies might get slightly injured. And, then, there's the mental anguish of team selection which always leaves the losers until last.
Poor kiddies. Wait until they find out that life isn't fair.
