Yep, wrong version number in that post. The correct version is 2.0.14 which contains NewDark 1.22.

I find the version numbers confusing. Corrected now.

Hi, I'm replaying the series again, now with the NewDark patch. The last time I played it was a really early version and basically the AI was completely broken and had nightvision, instant detection and a fov of 350°. Now there aren't any problems. The only weird thing is that now certain light sources seem to be brighter. For example the lights in the first training room of the Keeper's Training are so bright that a speedrunner can no longer just jump over the gate and skip the briefing. I don't really understand how something like that can happen because the lighting in Dark Engine games is lightmapped. Were the lights re-rendered with the new engine?
But I haven't had any real problems with the lights and AI, so nevermind. My question was... does Tafferpatcher and the engine update work with Thief 2X Shadows of the Metal Age? Are there any problems with other fan missions?

The difference in the lightmaps may be caused by the Resource Fix, which contains missions re-lit with 32-bit lightmaps.
T2X can work with Tafferpatched Thief, with a little taffing around, see (

Thanks. I'm now at Angelwatch, and I noticed that there is no ambient sound. I don't recall the level being this quiet. Things still make noise, like the grinding gears of the gallery, but there doesn't seem to be anything else. It's been about a year since I last played Thief 2 and I don't remember whether the level was supposed to have ambient or not.

I see the T2x patch has EP.crf. I know T2x was originally shipped that way, but would it be better to replace it with EP2.crf?
EDIT: If you want T2X already patched and FMSel/DarkLoader-ready, grab it
(http://www.bogadocious.com/thief/T2X.zip) here. It's now just like any other FM you have.

Following TFix, I've also tried out this patch. I really like it (even if it was slightly more difficult to set up). TMA is running like a charm so far. :thumb: Thank you. :)
However, I do have one question: How do I edit the patched TMA.exe shortcut to have the intro play when I click on the shortcut from my desktop ? Can I just go into the shortcut properties and change one value to have the intro play, in the same way it can be done with some other games ?

How about opening cam.cfg, and:
;skip_intro
?

This will work only for one launch. A new skip_intro string will be added after that. Change
skip_intro line to
always_play_intro and
that will work.

Excellent, thanks a ton for the advice. :)
