Hi !
To begin, i would you say, I am french so sorry for my english ...
My configuration is :
Windows 7 Home Premium Edition
Service Pack 1
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU 2.50GHz
64 bits
NVIDIA GeForge GT 630M
I also have a :
Windows Xp 32 bits in a virtual box
I explain my problem :
I can install without problem Thief 2 in the virtual box but when i launch the game : "incompatible graphics card"
So I can't play...
With my windows 7, I have downloaded patches "TafferPatcher_TMA_212_beta" & "TafferPatcher_TMA_100" and installed Thief 2 without problem with my CD. But when I launch the game, after trailer, the game crashes "The game has stopped working", I saw the main menu few seconds... Same resultat if I install Thief 2 on Windows Xp with both patch.
So what must i do ? I did a mistake somewhere ? Another patch download ?
If you have a solution just for my Xp or Seven it's will already awesome ! If you have a solution for the both since it's the same error with both patches, it will be even better ...
Thanks to you

first, virtual box will not work as it does not support 3d acceleration properly.
under windows7, you just install the game, run TafferPatcher_TMA_212_beta, let it do its magic, and it's done. there is virtually no way of screwing this up.

Would the game being installed in Program Files screw it up?

hard to say. seems like it works ok for 9 from 10 people, but that 10th guy can get anything from movies not working up to awakening Cthulhu from his dead dreaming.
anyway, yeah, avoiding program files is generally a good idea for ANY pre-windows vista game.

So I have installed the resource pack, but the game freezes for half a second or more from time to time, usually when a new sound is played.
any suggestions?
How do I fix this?
voodoo47 on 26/3/2014 at 21:00
pretty sure this has nothing to do with the resource pack. post your thief2.log.

Reinstall someplace else
"C:\Games\Thief2" is common, without quotes of course :)
of if you have a ssd boot drive and another hdd install to that probably D:\games\thief2

There are two robots in this place in mission "Sabotage at Soulforge". This second robot is disabled:

Also, there is a Jenivere's door glitch in first mission (at the moment 0:33) - and it works with TafferPatcher_TMA_212_beta with patch v1.21. Only need to hit door using blackjack, proof: (

EDIT: There is a bad drink animation in Thief 2: (

Nice thing about older games and apps is that you can usually just grab the whole folder, move it wherever you want and it will still work without having to reinstall.
It would probably work anyway but there is also a setting to install the registry settings in folder when you run taffer-patcher.
You could probably put it on a thumbdrive.

I think that's exceeding the limits of what can be fixed tbh
