Thanks for the update DJ Riff !
I used the latest version 212 and noticed an issue with darkinst.cfg.
I must admit that my setup has some unique features. However something seems weird anyway.
Some background: I patched my install (namely RES\books.crf, etc..) to contain both german and english resources, so I can play the OMs in both english and german.
This is what my darkinst.cfg looked like before the upgrade:
Code:
;cd_path E:\
install_path .
resname_base .+.\patchme+.\patchedres+.\res
load_path .
script_module_path .
language english
;language german
movie_path .\movies+.\movies\english
;movie_path .\movies+.\movies\german
And after the upgrade it looked as follows:
Code:
;cd_path E:\
install_path .
language english+e german
resname_base .+.\patchme+.\patchedres+.\res
load_path .
script_module_path .
movie_path .\movies+.\movies\english+.\h \movies+.\movies\german
Any idea what is causing that?
It seems like the code is trying to add the commented resources as well, which should not happen.
I noticed that behaviour in an earlier version already, but this time I made sure to create a backup upfront for comparison.
Not a big deal, though.

That really looks like a bug in darkinst parsing code. I'll look into it but can't promise a quick fix because it's deeply involved in many features of the program and I'll be very wary of breaking something else.

Just patched my Thief 2 from Steam, and OMG! Best thing ever!
Seriously.
The wood, stone, brick, skies and water are lush!
And I was in absolute awe of the rock detail and mist of Markhams Isle in Kidnap.
Thank you! :thumb:

Could someone please mirror the latest version?
I've tried several times to download it, and failed.

This is also the case with TFix_1.17b2 and TafferPatcher_TMA_212_beta. Beta or not .... ALL Sounds work fine EXCEPT the torture sounds the NPC's mumble (in an unconscious state) when they are either drowning or burning...e.g., AHH... ouiiii... uuuuuu (servant), uhh ugf... ugh... (guard). so yes.. these sounds are quite funny BUT are not there with either of these patches. NOTHING was changed on the audio settings from a vanilla install. Any ideas?
This is for Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate machine. Patch is flawless just like TFix1.17b2. The torture sound is a must for me... especially after work.:laff:

Why do you mention TFix along with TafferPatcher ???
TFix is for T1, TafferPatcher for T2.
I guess you messed up your game.

basically, he is missing some sound is both T1 and T2 - which only points on some sound issue on his machine.

It's for both patches but I thought I would consolidate my post. I don't believe it's my "machine" only. Go on ahead and try to test unconscious NPC's and put them on fire or water. You will hear NO sounds.

Just wiped out the entire game and downloaded a new copy from steam. Copied the thief_2 dir and put it in: C:\Games (Ran the game and played mission 1 with NPC unconscious sounds burning/drowning no problems) ; created a new folder Thief 2; ran the latest tafferpatcher (patch asks for source cd ..which is thief_2). Played new game ... no NPC unconscious sounds. I must be missing something here. Any ideas? Aside from this minor sound issue, the patch is absolutely astounding; fixed many..many things.
