Sure.
1. Examine the contents of the mod archive. If it contains subfolders named FAM, OBJ, MESH, SND, BOOKS, etc., then create a subfolder (name it according to the name of the mod like VURTS_OVERHAUL) in your Thief2\MODS folder and extract all the archive content into it. If the archive contains a single folder with FAM, OBJ, etc. in it, then you don't need to create a folder yourself, just extract this folder into Thief2\MODS.
2. Open the file cam_mod.ini in any text editor. Find the string which begins with "mod_path " and does not begin with a semicolon. Add a folder you just created to the list, separating it with "+" from other listed folders, like this:
old:
Code:
mod_path .\MODS\t2water+.\MODS\t2skies+.\MODS\EP\EPBooks+.\MODS\EP+.\MODS\NTEX+.\patchedmis
new:
Code:
mod_path .\MODS\VURTS_OVERHAUL+.\MODS\t2water+.\MODS\t2skies+.\MODS\EP\EPBooks+.\MODS\EP+.\MODS\NTEX+.\patchedmis
Well, that's it. The leftmost folder in the list will have the highest priority over all other mods. It is highly recommended to use built-in FM selector for running fan-missions if your game is modded like that for proper resource priority sorting.

when I went into the cam_mod.ini file the line was "mod_path .\MODS\t2water+.\MODS\t2skies+.\MODS\EP\EPBooks+.\MODS\EP+.\MODS\NTEX" not "mod_path .\MODS\t2water+.\MODS\t2skies+.\MODS\EP\EPBooks+.\MODS\EP+.\MODS\NTEX+.\patchedmis" does this matter? I changed it to "mod_path .\MODS\VURTS_OVERHAUL+.\MODS\t2water+.\MODS\t2skies+.\MODS\EP\EPBooks+.\MODS\EP+.\MODS\NTEX" do I need to add +.\patchedmis to the end of it?

do I need to add +.\patchedmis to the end of it?
Only if you have the "Complete Resource Fix Pack 1.0e" installed. It consists of two folders named
patchedres and
patchedmis located in Thief2 folder. Patchedres is registered in darkinst.cfg (in the string resname_base) and patchedmis should be registered in mod_path in cam_mod.ini. If something of these is missing, it means that something went wrong in the installation process, that is I need to fix something in the program.

Not sure how the new beta Tafferpatcher just installed Thief 2 for me. I ran the Tafferpatcher, then it asked for cd1 which I inserted. Then it did nothing with cd1 and immediately asked for cd2. I inserted cd2 and it gave an error about not being able to find a certain file. Then it started copying files from cd2 and installed the game just fine, so it seems. I dont remember previous versions of Tafferpatcher working this way.How did it get everything from cd2 only?

Probably you've selected the folder which already has some Thief files in it, in particular the RES folder with .CRF files in it.

Yeah, thats what it was. I reformatted my pc but for some reason the files in the C:Games folder did not get reformatted over. They were still there after I refomatted and then tried to install Thief2. Maybe its a Windows 7 thing? I deleted everything out of the C:Games folder and used the new Tafferpatcher again and it worked just fine now.

Ok after some experimenting, it looks like TafferPatcher lost support for Thief Multiplayer along the way recently.
After installing Thief Multiplayer, then running TafferPatcher to finish it off, it no longer creates the separate thiefmp.exe, it just overwrites the multiplayer modification completely.
This is with both version 215 and 218 of multiplayer.
I've included a link to 218 incase you didn't know about it (I didn't) Tos has slightly improved body carrying, and added an increased difficulty option, so I no longer have to install the Ultimate Difficulty mod with it.

And... maybe he's changed his mind about letting you include it in Taffer Patcher by now?? It would save this kind of hassle...
