It won't. You have to apply the 1.19 patch to the t2x directory as well. If you don't apply 1.19 to t2x, then you have to use the fmselector thingy that comes with 1.19. (At least that's what I've read on these forums.)
Actually, T2X runs the Thief2.exe file from the Thief 2 install. Which is why its installer says that it has to be installed to the same directory. All you have to do is zip up the install t2x directory and throw it into your FM Archive directory though (at least that's what I did.)
So no, you don't have to apply the 1.19 patch to T2X, just the main Thief 2 directory. Once it's there, when T2X.exe runs the Thief2.exe (v1.19) it will be running the New Dark engine and works just fine.

Oh okay, sorry for the incorrect information then.

both ways should work. and I prefer to have the standalone executable for T2x.

T2X Launcher or T2X shortcut start thief2.exe with the working path of .\T2X . The problem is that Windows 7 may suppress the working path parameter when the program is started via RunAs routine (Right-click -> start as Administrator). So having a standalone executable is preferred.

I used to have a stand alone executable. In this case, manually installing the t2_119 patch into the t2x directory. You may have to copy other files from the Thief 2 directory though. Mainly any RES\ddfix textures to T2X\RES\ddfix if I remeber correctly. Before 119 I just adjusted the paths in the DDFix.ini file and in the install.cfg (darkinst.cfg) files inside the T2X directory as necessary to give t2x any upgrades that it would be able to use. But with the improved FM selector, I just said the heck with that and zipped up the T2X directory as if it was a FM and it seems to work just fine for me now.

I want to start using the 1.19 DromEd, should I just do a clean install and patch manually or wait for the new TP?
sNeaksieGarrett on 23/10/2012 at 16:21
I see no reason to wait unless you're afraid of screwing your install up or something. As has been posted before somewhere, get a fresh install of thief 2 1.18 and dromed then drop the 1.19 patch into that folder. Oh, and you may want the Dromed Toolkit as well.
Make sure to read the documents that come with 1.19. There's a lot of documentation included. Using the new dromed is awesome :)

DromEd Toolkit is
required for DromEd 1.19 to work properly.
Regarding TP. I have a stable version with 1.19. The DromEd pack is simply DromEd Toolkit and some files are overwritten with 1.19 ones. That's basically what dromeder is supposed to do when installing DromEd 1.19, but the Toolkit still contains some quirks and workarounds which are obsolete or redundant in 1.19 (like light_bright, DS12, etc.), so one should read the documentation carefully and modify the installation if needed. If there's any urge need for TP updated to 1.19, I can throw in this version as is.

Well, thanks to Tafferpatcher and patch 1.19, my T2 now looks effing awesome! YES!!!
However... and this could be a completely unrelated problem, but my T2x is crap! That is to say, it starts out okay (though the sky and the water and everything still looks the way they did before TP or 1.19: Okay, but not great), but then suddenly after saving or looking at a map or a readable it shifts back to crap: Dark is really dark despite gamma adjustments, almost green, sky is baby puke with weird concentric circles just above me, and everything's just... wrong. :grr:
Has this happened with any of you? I have had no problems with T2: I'm at the end of Framed, and everything's fine. In T2x I'm in the middle of Trials, the second mission, and it keeps shifting from okay to bad. Is there a reason why the new changes to the water, sky, etc. aren't working? After all, they ARE in the same freaking folder!
Oih.... Just in case any of you have had this problem, any and all advice would be appreciated.

try loading T2x via fmsel.
