Ok, where can I download the enhanced skies and water textures? Tafferpatcher won't let me install them for some reason

I think this is what you are looking for:
(
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1986996) T2water
(

IIRC, then Tafferpatcher will not offer you to install these patches, in case you have installed them already.
So, you simply might want to remove them ... and then reinstall them with Tafferpatcher.

They don't work:(. I extracted the folder to the res\ddfix directory, put "texture replacement 1" in ddfix, but I still have the old texture.

I would start over with a clean install of T2. let Tafferpatcher do all the work.

Got a new problem. The game's freezing in the menus and maps. Everything else seems to be working fine. But when I go into one of these screens, it locks up and I have to keep hitting escape to go back and forth until it lets me move the cursor again.
I installed the latest ddfix and I already have all the patches. I've also checked to make double sure it's only running with one processor. I thought this problem was odd because everything else is working fine, including the movies. It's just when I go into my menus (pause, save/load, map, etc.)
Any ideas? Maybe there's some code or setting that deals directly with these screens?
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 Processor, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 1792MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Thanks, everything's working fine now

Doing a "clean" install is best. Wipe T2 from your hard drive and let TP do the work, as recommended above. When I installed TP over my existing T2 install, I had nothing but problems. Usually caused by tweaks we've done (especially FM authors).
I did a clean install with TP, and T2 and DromEd now runs better than it ever did.

Yeah that's what I did. For some weird reason, when I first tried to run the T2 setup this time, it wouldn't let me reinstall it - it just froze , so I actually did have to install the whole thing with TP

UPDATE: I believe I have found a way to fix it! I went into the NVIDIA Control Panel, customized a setup for thief2.exe, and turned the Anisotropic mip filter optimization and Anisotropic sample optimization on. I turned Threaded optimization off and forced Vertical sync off as well. I have no idea which of these did the trick (feel free to share your knowledge) but one of them certainly worked!
