I have a question which I know has been asked before but it has been a while now.
Do you think it would be possible for you to do this for Thief - The Dark Project or Thief Gold ?
What you have done for Thief2 is awesome and we all appreciate it greatly.
As for Thief1/Gold I for one have no idea what it would take to get it working on windows 7 64bit for starters, secondly while I have visual studio 2010 pro installed finding the time to do anything productive is like pulling teeth. My fiance and the kids are very demanding on my time. So I really can not do it I just do not have enough free time to devote to it.
It would be really nice to be able to install and play Thief Gold again and I am sure I am not the only one who feels that way.
With the experience you have from doing Tafferpatcher it would seem like it would be a lot easier for you to do the same thing with Thief1/Gold
Is there any chance you could do this in the near future ?

Actually, I'm in the same boat as you now. So well, I'm working on it, but I doubt this future will be 'near' enough (more likely we'll see something appearing on GOG sooner).

Maybe someone else will find the time and desire to do it.
Any takers ?

Never heard about this before. Could you explain please? Did your LGVID.AX file lost its extension while using TP? Did you install T2 via TP or did you apply it to the existing installation?
I installed on a vanilla install of thief 2 and yeah some how the extension of the LGVID was changed to LGVID.OLD after installing TP1.00. I will check again with TP1.03.

That's clearly not TP as I never use .OLD extension in my code. I use .BAK instead. Could it be Darkloader itself?
The only thing I can think of is that the read-only attribute was not cleared on LGVID.AX during installation and Darkloader could not replace it.

Ah sorry yes it was .BAK not .OLD and I will install TP1.03 and come back here with the result etc.

People have had success using (

It's also now stickied at GOG.

And speaking of GOG, thief gold was recently released on it.
@Thelvyn: Also, tafferpatcher isn't really required to get thief to run, it's just a nice program to make things easier for folks. (Though I have heard that it does bypass the CD installer and installs things directly from the disc, which is nice.) I haven't actually installed thief gold on this machine, as I already had a copy installed from a previous system configuration but the game definitely works on windows 7 64-bit.

Thanks for this. For some reason Thief 2 started going beserk lately, crashing on movies after the usual fixes, No textures when going back to the bell tower in life of the party and a few others, all of which only started happening the last few months. This patcher stuffed them all now it works like it was a few months ago.
cheers
