Here we go.
TafferPatcher for TMA Release Candidate v 0.9.6 (
ftp://djriff.homeftp.net/patches/thief2/fanmade/TafferPatcher/TafferPatcher_TMA_RC096.exe)
Updated: new link
Compatibility issuesIf you used previous version of TafferPatcher, please remove the
mission fixes (loot location, dialogs etc.) using that old version
or move mission files from Tafferpatcher\Backup\miss*fix\* to parent folder Tafferpatcher\Backup\. Otherwise you won't be able to uninstall them later.
Any other fixes are backward-compatible.
What's new— DDFix versions 1.5.11, 1.5.5, 1.1.1 are available. DDFix 1.5.11 provides widescreen resolution for both Thief 2 and DromED without any additional tweaks.
— All darkinst.cfg entries are fully supported. This means TafferPatcher will seek in resname_base for resource files in load_path for missions and in cd_path for backup files if its own are lost
— German and French versions are fully supported, including installation. Multi-language versions like
language german+english are supported too.
— Partial Install is supported. Just be sure source files are always available for the game.
— You may add or remove a registry entry for current Thief installation, like the original installer does.
— A desktop shortcut in Vista and Win7 is made with
/affinity 1 parameter. From my experience, it's the most reliable way to force the OS to run a game with one core.
— Enhancements mods are added: t2skies, t2water, Enhancement Pack and NTEX.
— Darkinst.cfg configuration utility: Add or remove folders, convert absolute path to relative and back, change their priority, edit the file directly — everything in one window.
— DDFix.ini configuration utility: Here are all settings for current version of ddfix, with checkboxes, editbox and help text.
— Start Thief Button. Does just that: change settings, start Thief, change settings again without need to restart the Patcher.
Testing needed— An awful lot of code was changed, there may be bugs. There should be. Backup your saves, copy your screenshots,
lock your loot away.
— Please test thoroughly with German and French versions of Thief 2. Especially Options -> Controls -> Customize Controls -> that list of controls, if something mixed up. I smell a rat there.
Old version of TP is still available for a while, through the link in the first post.

Is the "middle" ddfix-version 1.5.1 or 1.5.5? In the Tafferpatcher-setup, it's named 1.5.5
DJ Riff on 22/5/2011 at 08:17
Typo. 1.5.5 Of course.

In ddfix.ini editor, selecting a checkbox item (to see the description) changes the checkbox state.
After installation, the game started with fog turned off in cam.cfg. I'm not sure if Tafferpatcher is supposed to touch that, but it would make a lot of sense if fog fix is on in ddfix.ini.
With t2skies, "Framed" is supposed to have fog.

Thanks for the new version !
Wow, this is 3x bigger then the previous version.
Some issues I see:
(
http://www.gnartsch.de/Thief-FM/beta/TP-092.jpg) http://www.gnartsch.de/Thief-FM/beta/TP-092.jpg
Screen1 (Select destination folder): at the bottom there is the option
[ ] Install Thief2 into the specified folder
I would recommend to change this to:
[ ] Copy optional content from Disc (Full/Partial Install)
I was wondering at first if this is for Patches or for the components that are allowed to reside on Disc.
Also, it would be good to know how much space would be required in worst case.
I deselected all options above, since I have Thief2 fully installed already.
When I click 'Next', the installer asks if I want to change my Install from Partial to Full. Why ?
What is it trying to do and why would the CD be required ?
I deselected all optional resources and since I have have the Complete Collection I can not test what would happen since my DVD is not recognized when I push 'Yes'.
Screen2 (Select components) :
The description for 'Enhanced Skies' is not fully readable
Screen3 (Select additional tasks) :
'Delete registry settings for Thief 2' : Why would I want to do that ?
Wouldn't that be an option for 'Uninstall' ?
Screen4 (Game resolution) :
I run on Win7, 64 bit. The option 'Fix fog' is checked, but grayed out. Is this intended ?
When I start TafferPatcher, then I can choose between 'English' and 'Russian'. But nothing else.
Where would be German or French ?
My OS is German, but Thief would be English.
It would be good if TafferPatcher would create a registry entry on its own or otherwise remember where Thief is installed.
Since my 'Thief - Complete Collection' is not detected I have to type in the path to Thief whenever I start Tafferpatcher.
The default that is presented to me (C:\Games\Thief2) does not apply at all and I wonder where that might come from.

An update :)
(
ftp://djriff.homeftp.net/patches/thief2/fanmade/TafferPatcher/TafferPatcher_TMA_RC096.exe) TafferPatcher for TMA Release Candidate 0.9.6
Changes made:
— When applying Fog Fix, it automatically enables fog in Thief settings.
— When t2skies is installed, TP applies Global Fog for miss4, Framed. (if miss4 ini file already exists, it does not replace the file, just changes the Fog settings). Framed mission should have fog now.
— On first install, TP checks if the Thief installation is already full, and does not bug the user with redundant question.
— Fixed (probably) wrong position of Preset List, which caused it to overlap the component description text.
— On 'Select Directory' page the maximum free disk space needed is shown (all patches + all backups + Thief installation if chosen). Worst case. You asked for it. :ebil:
— TP now creates a TPStart.ini where the last used path to Thief is stored.

Well, that's a tough one. The CheckList generates the same ClickCheck event regardless of what is clicked on — the checkbox itself or its text. Most of the low-level features are disabled in Inno Setup, so I can't even determine mouse cursor coordinates. I disabled all checkboxes except the one that is highligted. So it's click to highlight, next click to change. Another alternative is to remove all checkboxes from the list and make the checkbox appear instead of EditBox when the boolean parameter is active. I don't know which one will be less confusing.

The option does exactly what is written — it installs Thief from original CDs or from a folder where all data from CDs was copied, or an existing Thief2 installation which resembles the original folder structure (CRFs in RES, AVIs in MOVIES, etc.). It is done to bypass the original Thief installer which fails to start often. The optional content is useful when you make several copies of the game and don't want it to eat up space with redundant files. It's not recommended to leave anything useful to be read from CD while playing anyway.

'Delete registry settings for Thief 2' : Why would I want to do that ?
Wouldn't that be an option for 'Uninstall' ?
If you have your Thief Installer working properly, the Uninstall is of course a better option. But if you install it via TafferPatcher, it neither copies the uninstaller application to the system folder, nor sets the uninstall entry to Add/Remove Programs. So Thief uninstall will be as simple as deleting its folder, and i'd like to have the option to clear Registry before that.
The registry Entry made for Thief is a simple one key in App Paths section. It's not needed for Thief itself to run, but it can be used by other mods to locate the Thief folder or when starting it from a command line (so you won't have to type in the whole path).

Yes. It's forced on when t2skies mod is installed.

Where would be German or French ?
My OS is German, but Thief would be English.
Well, meant the languages of Thief itself are supported. When installing from original disks, it will correctly set the language string in darkinst.cfg. If the language of the game is "german" it will install german files of Patch-1.18. I didn't find the separate Patch-1.18 for French version, so it won't replace French language-dependant files with English ones at least. That's why I ask to test it with French version because the OPTIONS.STR file may not work correctly in it.
As for the interface… well, if anyone wants to translate it to any other language, you're welcome, I'll send a list of all language-dependent strings.
