Just to report:
I installed Thief 2 (Sold Out version) on Win7 x64 which wouldn't work. After some fiddling with Ddfix 1.5.5, it worked. Uninstalling Ddfix and installing the Tafferpatcher worked prefectly well. Not sure whether my fog is working though, how can I check that?

Enable fog and play the OM Partytime, there's fog right at the beginning

Great, user.cfg allowed me to start Party/Cargo and fog is there. Playing Thief has never been so easy! Thanks, DJRiff.
Changing install.cfg to swtich my cd drive letter does not work though. Anybody got a hint as to where else I could change the drive letter?

darkinst.cfg

Yes, darkinst.cfg is for Thief 2, while install.cfg is for Thief 1/G. That file is still in Thief 2 installations, probably because LGS forgot to remove it, or else just to confuse people. :D

A massive thankyou and hugs to djriff, first time today I have been able to play thief 2 fm due to the tafferpatch. My chair nearly broke under me for all the jumping up and down for joy. Its been more than a year or so since I could play any fm but tdm. (I love tdm too, but was missing out on all theses wounderful fms and now I have lots of catching up to do, Rose Cottage here I come). :thumb: :D

If you remove the cdpath line entirely, you'll reduce some of the excess wear-and-tear on the disc.

Problem solved.

Sorry to bring this topic up again, but I was recently experimenting with gaming emulation on linux, and I remembered a small idea I had with using the small application (
http://www.playonlinux.com/en/) PlayonLinux to possibly get Thief 2 working. I gave up the idea, believing it somewhat futile. Just now, I decided I'd look into this (
http://www.playonlinux.com/en/topic-2295.html) System Shock 2 script , and see how I'd modify to use Thief 2. As well as trying it out with TafferPatcher. :D
I mean, it's worth a try. I've had a bit of luck recently myself, even with an ATI card.

Made the game work great. But it still asks for CD2 when i run it. How can i fix this?
NVM: I figured it out. Removed the install path in the cfg files. Game works great!! :D Now if only i could get Thief 1 working this easy.
