You had to reinstall because you changed monitors? What?

Hi,
Okay, so, I've tried both installing the game with tafferpatcher and patching it after installing it regularly and I get the same problem. Everything installs fine and it all seems dandy until I run the actual game. When I do, the intro starts, skipping past it takes me to a menu screen which is either totally black, flashes manically so that nothing can really be seen or does one of the above but with some parts of whats on screen seen vaguely (such as a single menu option). Basically, the screen goes haywire, flickering mad or being completely black.
I can still select things with my mouse and click them (blindly) but the actual thief 2 golden arrow game cursor remains frozen on the screen also occasionally flickering.
I'm using a Geforce 8800 GTS and am using an Intel dual core 1.87 GHz and 1 gig of DDR ram. I should also mention that this same problem came up when I tried using the DDFix on its own as well.
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've been fussing for hours trying to get Thief 2 reinstalled and tweaked :(

Take a look at the Nvidia control panel, set "maximum number of frames to render in advance" to 0.

try uncommenting the menuupdatedelay option in ddfix.ini, and setting it to 25 (or 14)..

The previous install, set for 1280x1024 on a 17 inch monitor, wouldn't show up on my new 24 inch HD monitor, which is 1920x1080. All I got was a black screen with the menu sounds.
Besides, one of Haplo's FMs screwed up my game anyway, so it was time to reinstall. I don't know how the FM did it, but it broke the controls so that I could no longer sneak, no matter how many times I reloaded my controls. It also affected other FMs so that the save game names showed the name of Haplo's FM. Possibly a Darkloader issue, but I can't be sure.

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and I was relying on this patch to make Thief playable. Thankfully, it worked well with a minimum of stress. Unfortunately, the fog patch didn't work, ho-hum. Otherwise, great job :thumb::thumb:
