Almost as fast as voodoo47's TFix. Not bad!:cheeky:
Thanks for putting it together! It's much easier to install all these things with TafferPatcher than by any other method.:thumb:

An update on the difficulty differences I was seeing:
Sure enough, unselecting "Complete Resource Fix Pack 1.1e" in Tafferpatcher 2.0.16 changed the difficulty back to how I remember - without removing the enhanced textures and objects. Just finished Casing the Joint and Masks, without the pack, in less time than it took to do Kidnap with the pack. Sure wish I knew what exactly was in that fix pack. But here's the changes I noticed:
Shorter blackjack distance
Searching guards (not in combat stance!) can't be blackjacked
In one case, two guards were walking one behind the other. I knocked out the one in back, and the one in front HEARD it. Tried half a dozen times to make sure - I could follow them around just fine, but the moment the back guard was hit, the front one turned around on alert.
Thanks for continuing to improve the game!

I seriously doubt Antimatter's pack affects any of things you mentioned. You might want to check out (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141121) this thread here for some actual details on what was changed. His pack focuses on correcting errors, not changing gameplay.

This is about as close to perfect as the original missions can get while still being completely true to the originals.

Brethren is correct. The blackjack distance is unchanged, as is AI's hearing. The AI in question may have been previously alerted, so that his alert level was permanently set to high, giving him better sight and hearing. When an AI is blackjacked, the M-KnockedOut metaproperty is added to it. This metaproperty includes a script called "ShutUpYerDead" (I'm not kidding) which prevents AI's "Hummph" sound from alerting nearby AI. In Thief1, this script doesn't exist, so if you aren't using TFix - which (I think) includes a fix for this - you'll find that blackjacking an AI usually alerts other AI nearby when using Newdark.

it does, for a couple of years now. even the default GOG version has it.

Brethren and AntiMatter_16, I've read the thread on the pack, and I certainly don't see anything that would cause these changes. But I can't explain it otherwise. I can only report what I'm seeing - that after the original installation of Thief 2, using TafferPatcher 2.0.16 and the original Thief 2 disks, I was seeing these difficulty differences, and by running TafferPatcher again and unselecting "Complete Resource Fix Pack 1.1e", it changed back to how I remember it. I have not installed any other mods, patches, anything, not even Darkloader. I made a backup copy of the Thief 2 folder before running TafferPatcher the second time, so I can compare the two installations as needed. I'd be happy to work with any/all of you in figuring out what is going on, but maybe it should be in a separate thread, to keep from cluttering this one.
Again, DJ Riff, AntiMatter_16, and anyone else who has enhanced the game, thank you!

ok, first quick thing is, move the game out of program files, that is a bad place to be (safest thing to do is to reinstall completely into a different location, and patching with TafferPatcher again). also, did you try the DX6 safemode?
also try this - edit cam_ext.cfg with notepad, find ;d3d_disp_no_rgb10_buf and remove the semicolon, so it would look like this;
Code:
; by default it will try to use an enhanced 32-bit precision display mode, if the driver supports it, but
; there may be instances (like with integrated intel GPUs) where the driver does support it but it may not
; work correctly (such as gamma not working), this option will disable the use of enhanced precision
d3d_disp_no_rgb10_buf
save and exit, and see whether the game will start.
Voodoo47 - Just reinstalled T2, then applied the newer TafferPatcher_TMA_217_beta, then applied your suggestion here...WORKS PERFECTLY! Thanks man! :thumb:

So the latest patch (2.0.17) doesn't seem to be working for me. I install it but nothing seems to have changed. Game is still stretched across my screen, textures are old, game wants the CD (but it'll run after clicking continue a bunch) and so on. I checked the tafferpatcher .ini in my T2 install folder and it says everything is installed. Should I try the previous patch or have I done something wrong?
