You can move it anywhere you want and it will still work.

it's the Steam version of T2 so I can't move it out of SteamApps\Common
you can, either manually or via steam. also try the tweaks from my previous post before doing anything else.

I've set up Thief 2 with Tafferpatcher on my Ubuntu machine. (Which took some work. Heh.) I'm finding that it's a LOT harder than I remember - alerted guards can't be blackjacked even when in the dark, for instance. Looks like this may have been part of Antimatter16's Complete Fixed Pack. Any idea how to change it back to original difficulty, without completely dropping the game improvements?

simply reinstalling tafferpatcher over your current files *should* undo any changes made by other mods

so you want improvements without improvements.

TheDuriel, the only thing I installed was TafferPatcher, which included the Complete Fixed Pack.
voodoo47, I don't consider a dramatic increase in difficulty an "improvement" - but the various fixed glitches, improved graphics, and other corrections certainly are!

I believe Antimatter's pack is built into the Tafferpatcher install now, but you can rerun TP and uncheck that particular option if you want. That said, I don't remember AM16's patch increasing difficulty in any way.

I'm virtually certain all he did was fix bugs, and not raise the difficulty. Could this just be a case of the game being harder than you remembered, or you're out of practice?
voodoo47 on 17/3/2016 at 15:18
I think he can't do some blackjack exploit anymore, hence, the game is not as easy. so all's good - exploits are to be fixed. and no, you can't have the fixed maps without the exploit fixes.

Here's some of the differences I've noticed:
Alerted guards can't be blackjacked. In the dark. From behind.
Blackjacking distance seems to be shorter. (But that could be me out of practice, I suppose.)
A searching guard can spot Garrett in the dark, sometimes from several feet away. Often they make a beeline straight for Garrett, despite never having seen him.
I installed T2 using Tafferpatcher, version 2.0.16. I assume Antimatter16's Complete Fixed Pack is "Complete Resource Fix Pack 1.1e" in Tafferpatcher. I wish I knew (before messing with a functioning installation) what exactly made the difficulty changes, but I guess I'm back to experimentation to find out.
