Shinrazero, nickie, thank you very much, I am really glad you enjoyed :) It sad that EM manage to kill Garrett (not just Garrett, whole game) though, for me anyway.
You are most welcome! I was really pleased to see a bit of poetry on the boards. Your poem has given me the courage to post the one I've been working on.
Musings of a thief: a trip to Old Quarter
A cold hum, a breath of air,
The City sleeps, its pearls laid bare.
The moon is dull, shadows, they creep,
I must be quiet, while the City's asleep.
Rent is due and hunger gnaws,
like pagan roots, writhing, raw.
This job will bring coin, I need to eat,
I won't let this city, deal me defeat.
Go over my gear, secure everything tight.
Arrows, compass, lockpicks, all seems right.
Unfold these tatters, this map, I view,
job will be tough, what else can I do?
Constantine wants me to retrieve some eye,
from a part of town where horrors are rumored to lie.
A hammer cathedral, contains the prize,
slip in and slip out, easy, I surmise.
Looking back, what a fool! Blind to the cues!
I never would have thought, it was all a big ruse.
That betrayal instilled, that ever I must,
believe that I am the only one whom to trust.
They say a great destruction rendered this part town,
to rubble and ruin, all of it was brought down.
Walled off and safe, keeping the unknown within,
I slip in to this dead city, ready to begin.
This place is quite still, no sight, no light.
Are those rustling leaves? I suppress the growing fright.
The cathedral lies east, cautious I go,
I must tread quietly, did I hear someone moan?
The road to the eye, I traveled unseen,
was laid with the dead, my sanity lean.
Slowly I made way, the cathedral is in view,
And that's when sound of whispering grew.
Looming before me, this ominous stone,
in this dark corner, I'm utterly alone.
The door won't budge, time has worn,
a sign above, it serves to warn.
I search for an entrance, perhaps 'round this side?
Mantle this ledge, a window to peer inside.
The eye it hovered, suspended in air,
cold words in my mind, it had things to share.
Talismans hidden, far and wide,
they will unlock the treasure inside.
Seek out the keepers, they hold the clue,
find the locations, this you must do.
Onward I went, the library I discovered,
the locations I needed were quickly uncovered.
Eager to leave this unsettling place,
I made my leave and quickened my pace.
And so I left, the mission went on,
Blind to see I was only a pawn.
Even so, now clearer I see,
Hidden in shadow, is where I'm truly free.
