I'm not quite finished yet, but I wanted to relay the way in which I found the switch for the sun mask, especially since so many seem to have had trouble/frustration with it. I initially searched the room as so many others did, frobbing around, then I decided to leap onto the bed and begin searching the walls, ceiling, floor, etc. with my "zoom in eye" carefully. That's when I spotted it on the door frame beside the plant. I'm not saying this will work every time, but it has worked for me a few times in these situations.
BTW, what the heck is up with the dagger on the wife's bed frame? I thought that this was the "dagger" in the objectives, but it wouldn't frob...hence my confusion.

I think the dagger on the lady's bed was referring to what she stated at the end of her journal.

I was just locked in on the dagger objective, and thought that HAD to be it.Got the right one, finished it! I REALLY liked this mission, this is the first mission I can remember that only supplied you with a blackjack as a weapon. IMO that made the character as realistic as possible, no "supernatural" weapons, or assortment of weapons & "stuff" that would in reality be impossible to carry or conceal while croutching and sneaking, other than the loot assortment.

I didn't have any issues with the book, or at least with the mages. I went downstairs, grabbed a crate, brought it back and threw it to one side of the library, when they all went to investigate went up the other stairs, they all fell down. Not sure if they were unconcsious or dead but didn't get an ended mission till I went into the crawl space. Very good mission.

Same here too. No problems at all. I just finished it on both normal and hard. It took exactly one hour on hard.
After I opened the chest, I stayed hidden when Desmond came running into the room. When he left, I crept up the bedroom staircase, and, from the landing, I saw him all the way across, and the two masked witches below. I carefully moved down into the library, and got the dagger ready. Staying crouched, I moved quickly up the left staircase. Nobody noticed, and as I was midway up, Desmond started walking down on the right staircase. I hit the book, and all three of them fell dead.
Another thing I noticed was the following (on hard): I was in
the kitchen and wanted to go down the ladder to the wine cellar. This I did, and when I went back up the ladder, I jumped off and of course made noise on the kitchen tiles, setting off the standing guard (Jonesy) in the barracks downstairs. I quickly hid in the music room and when I opened the door to the corridor, there was a guard (most likely the one from the basement) standing right in the other door next to the sleeping servant. Since the corridor was relatively lit, and I had no water arrows, I had to reload. It was a really awesome mission :thumb:, and this is from a guy who is not a big fan of BJ limits. This one will be one of the strongest contenders, along with
The Affairs of Wizards. On to expert.
Best to all,

I just finished it on expert, 56 min 17 sec.
There may be a bug with the captain. I went where he was on the landing, pickpocketed his key, enter the door behind him, etc, and then I went down again. He made only the usual alert noises, and mentioned "come back here" etc. When I returned later on for the final stage of the mission, he was well more than halfway down the stairs, looking toward the entrance. But that was not the only problem: Frederick (the patrolling hooded estate manager), was trying to go up the stairs, and trying to jump over the captain without success. Both were stuck.:erg:
I solved the problem as follows:I hid in the right dark corner, made noise, attracted them, and they both came. They were searching literally on top of me for about 5 minutes. Then Frederick left to go upstairs, but the captain stayed facing the dark wall. I sneaked upstairs (he showed some minor alertness) and easily finished the mission. As I said above, it is an awesome one. The mansion is very well designed, and it has a slightly sinister aura.

I really enjoyed this mission. Great use of the contest space. Enough side story to keep my attention, and enough to do to keep me busy. Great job :thumb:
