Regarding the screen tinting mechanism, doesn't that create more obtrusion in the FOV for the player? Shouldn't the idea of a HUD element be to convey the maximum amount of information/feedback while using the smallest footprint possible? Why should your whole world, or even a good portion of it, change opacity or tint just because you want to inform the player of their current visibility? In this instance, less is definitely more..

Yes, that's true. I'm very keen to see exactly how this will be implemented. I'm open minded because I don't know enough about it but its potentially an utter disaster.

Well, considering the original Light Gem concept was heavily inspired by Might and Magic, and even the graphical presentation itself was more or less lifted, and since Might and Magic died around the time of Deadly Shadow... perhaps it *is* time to move on!
How is the inspiration and copying of an image relevant to having a light gem?

tbh, I kinda find the stealth vignette in Dishonored the opposite. Rather than being obtrusive It's so subtle that it's barely noticeable.

the only stealth solution for Thief4 is by staying loyal to the original stealth system. Why call it Thief 4? Even the critical Thief Deadly Shadows remained loyal to the franchise, Thief is all about stealth and shadows and darkness. A Thief 4 game based on Dishonored, Assassins Creed, Hitman or Splinter Cell will result in a big failure for true Thief fans. Other stealth and console gamers will play another great game that came by, i know its still early to claim anything. But with all the information we have, trailers, screens and details we can be sure that the good old classic stealth genre is going to get killed with the release of Thief 4. Its best to stick to FM's at this moment, or better yet to Dark Mod.

No, not just the image, if thats what you really mean. I mean the heart and soul and guts and glory of the original Light Gem and all it stood for. It didnt just magically appear on their screens one day. Years of playing Might and Magic, using their original concept of the Gem, was transformed magnificently into Dark Project, both evolutionary concept as well as graphical presentation. And not only Might and Magic, oh no! There, grudgingly, were others... lol You simply cannot imagine my glee as I was first journeying through this masterpiece. The point was and still is, now that the classic crpgs that started all this have been dutifully dispatched and dealt with, you cannot possibly expect the next generation to uphold such an elitist legacy. No, that would almost require some sort of miracle it seems! This information about newer fans is what I have gathered from others about the state of modern gaming, for I have not played a new computer video game since Deadly as it turns out! Oops, not true. I did play Heroes of Might and Magic IV a half year later. Or was it the other way 'round? Nevertheless...

I dont usually make posts like this, but...
When you post some of those pictures, especially in situations like this, all you are doing is openly advertising that you have absolutely no clue what is going on, but still wanna take the ride. By all means, join on in !!! Shed some light for us on the classics and/or Light Gem, since you are obviously a neverending font of knowledge.

Oh don't get all tldr7 on me, you insufferable boob. How the nickie am I "advertising" anything except my own disdain for your nonsense?
When you say things like the line I quoted, do you actually read what you said or do you just post your thoughts as they come? Because you look colossally out of touch when you say stuff like that. Those cRPGs you're talking about are still there. They haven't been erased by the likes of Mass Effect or The Witcher. And many of them are seeing new life on gog.com. So please, stop acting like modern gaming has destroyed what you love. Re-Thief, however good or bad it is, won't make Classic Thief stop existing. They'll still be there for you to play. Silent Hill 4 was awful, and almost every Silent Hill game after that has been an abomination. I still play 1, 2 and 3, because they're still there. Nothing is ruined forever.
Get over it and get over yourself. And maybe get a Risperdal prescription.

That post was just a vehicle for you to use Re-Thief, I think. Other than that, contribute something worthwhile about the classics and/or Light Gem, or take thy blather back to GenGame or CommChat or wherever you will get the kind of attention you are craving.

Remember that "what is wrong with you?" picture I posted that I took back because you were just being clever? I'm no longer taking it back. What is wrong with you? Are you reading what you're posting? Because you're not reading what I'm posting. Please stop with the martyr games and elitism. Try actually reading what I said and responding to it (beyond just going "hurr hurr Re-Thief") and not just dismissing it as "eeeebil CommChat sorcery."
