90s? Where do you taffers come up with this stuff?
What year did TMA come out? What year did TDS come out? Part of Thief's special appeal is that it didn't condescend to the player--at first--and the one of the three that did has quite a different fanbase.
Well, personally my favorite one is TDS, because of the dark atmosphere and the music, even though some gameplay mechanics were broken unfortunately (and it was pretty f**... easy). TDP and TMA got their charms too, but graphically it is just too old for young people like me. Otherwise, my favourite Thief game is the Dark Mod right now. People who made this wonderful game are pure genius, and I wish it could be turned as an Official game with EM and Square Enix agreement

Plus, why can't I enjoy thief as a semi-casual game (because it won't be at 100% casual) just like Dishonored?
Because Dishonored is a semi-casual game, by design...whilst a true THIEF game isn't designed for that type of experience.

Thief is really one of the rare videogames that I enjoy a lot while playing it
Good...then there isn't any problem with leaving its' core design intact.

The Dark Mod is a hardcore immersive sim, just like TDP and TMA...In fact, it was these games (TDP/TMA) that inspired the developers to create tDM...So you're only really having a problem with the older graphics, not the uniquely rich, hardcore design of T1/T2 (which you apparently love...:thumb:)
So you see, you've just made your true desire known, and are now arguing
for a true, hardcore THIEF game...
...not TEEF...

The old graphics aren't what we want. It's the immense amount of information coming through, that doesn't need to be exaggerated or contrasted so strongly to convey these days. The list of geological changes alone from mission to mission is larger than I expect to see in new Thief, until I see different.

The only thing I don't like from the dark mod is that it is a bit too hardcore for me, while in counterpart TDS is far too easy.

Hardcore, immersive sim? Seriously? I love Thief, but a hardcore, immersive sim it ain't. As a matter of fact, there are ways in which you can make the games fairly easy, e.g. knocking out and hiding every guard you come upon. I'm sure I'm not the only person who didn't play Thief primarily for the challenge but for the atmosphere and for the innovative stealth gameplay. But then that probably makes me a phony Thief fan in the eyes of some. No true Scotsman, eh?
Edit: My issue is with "hardcore" and "sim", not "immersive" - but then, immersion doesn't have a fixed meaning. Some people find Ultima VII immersive because it has a living, breathing world. Some people find Red Dead Redemption immersive. Some can only be immersed in a game if they can play in first-person perspective. None of these are more correct than the others. Immersion is a very personal thing.

Just like me :p

What just happened? :laff:
I love the atmosphere and just hanging out in a safe spot, watching the world, listening. Love it!

I have never considered any of the Thief games hard at all even on the highest difficulty, so I don't really care where the difficulty itself sets. I think all of the previous games have created nice spaces and situations, which you can approach in a way you like, which in turns stimulates the player to have fun. I don't see how this would change with the next installment.

Did you bother to play Dishonored? You can (and should) turn all the player aids off. If you do, the game doesn't hold your hand any more than Thief did and doesn't lead you around by the nose like SS2 did either. What's wrong with that?

What's nice about the original games is that it all works together to create that unique feel and experience...regardless of anyone's particular leanings.
