After releasing the Cabal, I was amazed by the number of people having problems with objectives etc, down to not having the modified exe - how big is the exe? Could new authors include it in their zip file? Are their any cons to doing this?

Visible objectives are a matter of language settings and (what I keep buggering you guys for years now :D) missing entries in the schema files. That GL and ML handle the executable thing is practically written all over them (or it just works, as with ML), so the only issue I can see is with those legally-existing no-cd executables, when they're not modified FM-wise.

I wonder whether some players are not using loaders at all though, and just unzipping the package themselves?

Hardly anyone I guess. And if they do it's definitely out of the range of what FM authors can do to improve FM handling. :p
By the way, I got to get the back-up HD so I can test whether or not ModernLoader manages to set up an already used version of T3Ed. I'm in contact with Xiaopang to make it able for ML to run T3Ed problem-free (right now the Send-to-xBox thing doesn't work and options/keybinds aren't preserved). Even if he doesn't have the time for further developments, it already allows parallel T3Ed set-ups and the whole FM install thing is pretty as well. And of course it takes care of the T3Main.exe issue.

The exe is pretty small, 6.15mb.
