I can get T3Ed running ok (WinXp, 2.23GHz, 512MB, RADEON 9600 SERIES)
But when I try to run a map (even one that came with the game) it goes to the loading screen, and just hangs, I can't ctrl-al-del, alt-F4, nothing, any ideas what this could be?

There's quite a few things I think it could be.
First, did you follow one of the tutorials for getting T3ed setup?
If so, which?
Second, which version of the game have you got? - we need to check because the editor doesn't work with the downloadable version.
Third, have you run the game and started the training level at least once before so that the registry entries are set up right?
Fourth, have you swapped the exe files over so that you're trying to run the game through the T3MainOptVersion.exe (renamed to T3Main.exe)?
Fifth, how are you trying to play the level?

1.) David's
2.) DVD
3.) Yes
4.) Yes
5.) joystick button in editor

If anything else fails, go to the game's installation folder (I assume you have two installs, one for the game and one for the editor). Go to CONTENT/Maps and copy all gmp and ibt files to the same folder in editor directory.

Naturally these day, first point is to throw the lot away and follow KOMAG's tutorial instead :p

Check any firewalls you might have running, too.
