I'm getting an error when I try to run the editor using the launcher.
VIKTORIA: ERROR
Creation Failed: Factory function for tagged resource type:1242132 has not been registered!
I've followed the tutorial for setting up the folders, but I must be missing a step, or a file, I'm not sure.
The main game also runs fine. I just bought the game the other day mainly for level design, so I'd really appreciate any help.
If you need more info on the error just let me know.

Can you run the editor without the launcher?
Deus21 on 1/12/2005 at 00:15
Nope, if i try to run t3ed.exe directly, i either get an error that says:
Editor Error
You must launch the Thief: Deadly Shadows Editor from T3.exe with the "editor" commandline argument.
If i run the T3.exe, then exit the game menu and try t3ed.exe again, i get the same Viktoria Error as the launcher gives me.

T3ed.exe isn't meant to be double-clicked, so that's not going to work.
I've lost track of all the how to guides on getting this to work, but to go without the launcher, you need to create a new shortcut, and have it go to T3.exe, with -editor appended to the end of the shortcut.
Kind of like:
Code:
C:\Thief3\System\T3.exe -editor

Are you using the readme/wiki installation tutorial or Komag's one? I'd go with the latter if you aren't already. Might be worth wiping it all (including the savegame folder in My Documents) and starting again. If you end up with the same problem, it probably indicates a system-related problem rather than a chair-keyboard interface one. :)

Which launcher exactly do you use? Is it the Thief3 Launcher by dracflamloc?
Deus21 on 2/12/2005 at 07:34
Running the editor with the -editor argument gives me the same Viktoria error as before.
Yes, I was using the Dracflamloc launcher.
As far as tutorials, I've looked at both the Komag one and the Wiki info.
Could it possibly have anything to do with the game being bought and registered online?

Bought online....
Uh-oh.
You didn't get a Direct-to-Drive digital purchase did you? That's never going to work with the editor (apparently).
STiFU on 2/12/2005 at 14:11
If its the direct-2-drive version it surely woun't work, because they use another "technique" there. Files are archived...

It would be nice to see if it's possible to recreate a full T3 install from the D2D version. After all, the stuff must be in there somewhere...
