T3Ed: Can't select things

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum, been reading it for a while. What got me registering is the problem I think maybe you can help me with.

I've installed T3ed recently, been following Komag's tutorial 100% as it told me and got stuck cuz of the problem that I actually can't select nothing: can't select light sources or playerstart, can't select walls to texture them, basically what I CAN select is that red box, it's called builder brush IIRC.

[Also maybe it's a lil hint to my problem: I also can't create playerstart or anything, when I choose somth in Actor Class and rightclick the 2d/3d view no option to add that somth appear. I've managed to replace the lightsources with the selected Actor Classes but that's not the option.]

Tried different game versions, tried T3Ed with sneaky upgrade and w/out. All I managed is selecting some of the things via Edit->Select but that's just silly. Any suggestions? Thanx in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

T3Ed is occasionally a bit strange with the mouse clicks it accepts, sometimes the right click or mouse wheel doesn't work for me but your problem sounds more serious. Have you made the experience that sometimes you have to "unlock" clicking, like it was disabled beforehand until you made a certain action? I could suspect some kind of CPU/multi-core issue if the problem was more constant, but the Sneaky Upgrade should take care of that. Maybe snobel has a better idea of what could be wrong.

Sounds quite weird - maybe one of the program's threads is waiting for something? Could be a multicore issue but the editor SU should take care of that. I can't suggest much, but try this if you haven't already:

- Make sure there's no dialog window hidden behind the main window. (Obvious, but anyway...)
- Look through the log files for any clues
- Make sure to give T3Ed.exe network access in your firewall settings. I have a vague recollection of this being a problem once, and that there was no "wants to connect" dialog shown
- I wonder if your Ukrainian locale could confuse things? I guess Savar would know if any tricks need to be applied...

Yes, figured that, Komag speaks about those problems in the tutorial too.

Tried everything now. Tried windows and avast permissions, tried disabling their firewalls, closing/killing all the programs/processes possible. Also tried OM maps. Dunno if Savar can help cuz I've been complaining about the problem on darkfate already, tried his advice using Alt+3 for texture use but no luck either.

The only option now I can think of is trying the editor on my job pc when the holidays are done in a week or so.

Ah crap, it works fine on work pc. Guess I'll be able to use the editor at home when I'll be me a new computer. Pity.

You don't accidentally have any wireless hardware at home, do you? In the early years TDS had issues with wireless keyboards an the like, I just thought it might be an issue for T3Ed, too.

So you're not spending more time at work now, are you? :p

Awwwww, I found this thread!
I thought I went insane, cause I have a similar problem and no idea where it came from.
There is no mission, where I can retexturize the walls any longer. (Tried all, OMs, FMs, Trainer ....)
At the beginning everything worked fine for me, I could pick a wall and texture it. But now it's definately kaputt :(

I checked those things you've mentioned earlier in this thread. I've got the T3SneakyUpgrade_EE_1.1.3.1 installed (btw: thx for your afford snobel :D), granted T3 full internet access, got no wireless hardware...any new ideas? :)

Shortly after I was so desperate to post here, I found it. But I don't know what I found. After hitting alt+3, my editor windows switched and schauschau: picking the walls works again :rolleyes:
