I agree the Nazis were a bit strange, they were removed in later versions as you'll discover when you play v_3.0, which IMO is the better version.

I could not get the valuable book on an upper shelf in the scribe room. The frob distance is too low for me to grab it at the top of a jump and despite many attempts, I was not able to knock it off the shelf with an arrow.
You can get to that book with a couple of crates.

v3.0 improves upon v1.0 in several aspects, making it my recommended version as well. There were no major changes in v3.0 besides the removal of the Nazi undead, the Nazi symbols, and the room of Nazi leader Wolfram Sievers. In my opinion, all that v3.0 is missing is a better storyline. Everything else is excellent!
Stats:
* Expert difficulty
* 87 minutes
* 90% loot
* 0 hints needed
Changes from v1.0 to v3.0:
* All Nazi symbols were removed.
* Custom models of undead Nazis were replaced by custom models of undead mages.
* Starting Location: There is now a food stand and one guard was moved next to it.
* Starting Location: The invisible wall in front a house at the starting location was removed.
* Attic Hideout: The name of the impudent thief was changed from Siman to Simon.
* Attic Hideout: The Jacknall's Paw cannot be picked up anymore.
* Abbey: Some of the paintings that looked more like photograph were removed.
* Abbey Refectory Hall: The undead now makes stops to feast on the corpse on the floor. I did not spot him do that in v1.0.
* Abbey West Wing The undead in the gallery above now occasionally feasts on a pool of blood on the floor.
* Abbey West Wing: When you pick up the key in the west wing to the High Priest's Room, two undead are summoned.
* Abbey Church Shop: The sleeping pagan woman was replaced by a patrolling undead mage.
* Abbey Scribe Room: Only one of the books scattered in the floor can be picked up. In v1.0, almost all of them could be picked up.
* Abbey Librarian's Study: The painting on the wall near the Librarian's Study now counts as loot.
* Abbey Librarian's Study: When I used the glyph to unseal the hiding place of Keeper Arman, he left his room to search for intruders. In v1.0, he remained in place, forcing a frontal attack.
* Abbey Library: The room is darker and the invisible monster guarding it is absent. An undead archer spawns in when you loot the place.
* Crypt Rotunda: The elevator now has two buttons on each level, which means you can call the elevator back to your level after you sent it away. You can't accidentally get trapped on your current floor anymore.
* Crypt Rotunda: The second undead in the rotunda appears only after you explored the rooms below.
* Crypt Lava Room: I had almost no problems getting the stamped gear this time. I got to it via a platform that falls into the lava. After I grabbed it, I made my way along the machines and the remaining platforms on the south wall to the key. I did take three damage when picking up the key this time. This did not happen in v1.0.
* Crypt Morgue: The regular undead was replaced by the undead mage Wolfram Sievers.
* Crypt Morgue: The former room of Wolfram Sievers was removed entirely.
No change in areas where I would have liked to see some:
* Texts: The frequency of typos in texts remains about the same. The story bits about "guests from the future" were not changed.
* Keys: All keys are still unlabeled. Labels would have been helpful.
* Chambers: I still was forced to lose three health for those two fire arrows.
Loot I previously did not get, but did in this playthrough without needing further hints:
* The book in a shelf up high in the Scribe Room still cannot be reached by climbing, jumping, or by shooting it with an arrow to knock it off the shelf. In this playthrough, I carried a crate all the way up from near the lava room below the abbey to the scribe room. Thankfully, one crate is enough to get the book.
Bugs:
* The undead in the High Priest's room makes stops to seemingly eat carpet. There should be a corpse or a pool of blood on the floor. Additionally, if you steal the glowing crystal from its stand, the same undead will continue to stop in that corner and act as if he was trying to avert his gaze from the light of the crystal.
* The voice clip of the Nazi was removed from the mission, but the victrola in the High Priest's room lights up as if it could be played.

Don't like certain types of censorship like the removal of Nazi undead and nazi symbols (as long as they're portrayed as the baddies, they shouldn't be censored, imo... unless it's something like Blade of Agony with those hideous real photos of nazi human experimentation and walking dead concentration camp jews). Want to try a TDS FM and there aren't that many it seems. Is v1.0 playable with not too many bugs?

We should make Garret a Nazi.
If censorship is only good for pushing your opinions, it should be good for pushing anybody's.
