I have set everything up according to Komag's tutorial 3. Everything seems ok, except that I can't export and play the maps.
Komag mentions it might be something to do with Internet settings, firewalls and so on, but I don't have an internet connection on my home machine ... does this mean that the editor requires a connection? is there a workaround?
cheers

wrong forum, you want the t3 editing forum.

I wonder if there isn't an impending turf war over the heart of ttlg between these two forums on the horizon...
Quick, everybody grab a pitchfork and torch and let's drive him away! :p

str8g8, it definitely doesn't need an internet connect - I use dialup and most of the time it's off.
How are you trying to play them? Manually, or through the editor? If you are using the Launch thing from the editor (looks like a joystick in the toolbar) there shouldn't be any problem. If you are trying to do it manually, I believe (not sure) that you need a GMP file to be able to launch it from a command line. I haven't done this yet, but to get one, you could probably launch it from the editor, which will build you an Autoplay.GMP, which you can then rename to coincide with your UNR. There's also a way to make IBTs, according to the wiki: [wiki]GeneratingIBTFiles[/wiki]

I don't think there is a turf war, just that there's new people on here, that do things in the unreal engine, who probably don't go into the dromed editor forum.
And therefore if its in the wrong forum then the question don't get an answer.

sneaksiedave-
I was simply trying through the editor, by pressing the joystick ... I've read on the wiki there were similar problems, but they were fixed by copying over the gmp files (which obviously I have tried) but there doesn't seem any definitive answers. I have a dual install, ie a separate "thief edit" folder on a different partition to the game install. I have no problem playing the game itself.
any ideas?
cheers

I use a single install, so hopefully it's nothing caused by that.
Are you able to launch the absolute simplest map there is - just a single subtracted cube with a player start (and maybe a light)? The answer to that will almost certainly point to where to start the debugging process. Also, you could try a map that's already been created - any of the game maps, Krypt's unfinished release, the rope arrow test thing, etc.?

I also use a dual install and I have no problem, so that's not it.

Of course, & that's totally reasonable ... I didn't mean it that way.
I was actually talking about on the grand scale of things, not this particular situation, and not a real turf war, more wondering if the dromed forum will even survive (e.g., whether a year from now dromed will go like T1/G -- you get one every now and then) or if it won't have a loyal following, so we'll have dromed partisans and T3 partisans, a win-win situation if you ask me.
I was banking on option 2, but in a fun way, not like I was flashing my dromed gang sign. :p
(& Sorry to blot up your thread st8gate ... just kidding around and sighing a little over the looming shadow over the future of the dromed forum's relevance.)
