T3 crashes after readables

my son is all into thief now and he's played the first 2, plus T2X, and now wants to play T3. We have it working on windows 7 x64 except that after using readables, the game crashes. not to the desktop or with a dialogue, but just hangs and stutters. the only way out is the 3 finger salute to kill the process.

we can load games, and it playes fine until a readable. anyone have experience fixing this? TIA

If you haven't already, try installing (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138607) this. If it fixes anything I'll take credit for it. :cheeky:

If you have it installed already, please post again. I'd be interested in finding out if it's caused by the patch.

EDIT: i should add that i formatted twice because after the first format i wanted to see if it worked with a clean start, which it didn't. that was before i saw your reply. after seeing your reply, downloading the patch and formatting again i used your patch and it did work. so i know for certain it was your patch that fixed it.

Glad it worked out for you. The game is probably not minimizing, it restarts itself every time you load or go to a new level. Somebody reported that if you disable the aero desktop effects you get a black screen in between, instead of a glimpse of the desktop.

yeah i had seen that, thanks, but i can live with the desktop appearance occasionally.

i had forgotten how much i love / hate this game. :p
