Once again this annoying topic, but I just finished T2X and I really need to know: first, what do you think about that risky Truart twist? Second, what do you think about the final confrontation and the whole ending?

That last mission was really disappointing. The Truart twist was fun and the transition between the estate and the pagan castle was cool but the monster looked uber ridiculous. Also the whole mission was far too short.

Very anti-climactic...

I thought it was awesome the way it tied into Thief 2- at the time a real mindblowing twist, but yeah the final mission repeated the mistakes of Escape! And Strange Bedfellows while also being on the short side.

While I enjoyed how they tied the story back to TMA, one thing always confused me: if Truart was killed by Malak's monster instead of Oleander (the Pagan assassin), how did Mosley's keyring end up in Truart's bedroom? Or are we to assume that Oleander had already killed Truart and fled by the time Malak's monster went through the portal?

Can someone remind me who Oleander is? Been about a decade since I'be played Thief 2 OMs and the wiki doesn't have an entry on him/her.

Oleander is the name T2X gave to the Pagan assassin sent to kill Truart. He went unnamed and unseen in the OMs. In Betrayal, you find him just outside the walls of Truart Estate, near death due to being attacked by the beast.
