T2X crash to desktop starting Down Among Dead

I recently started replaying T2X using the ricebug pre-patched FM compatable version - launching via angeloader.

all the missions before the the mausoleam mission were fine.

as soon as the down-among-the-dead mission launches it crashes to desktop.

I have tried playing it both with and without the DML. I was playing without MODS - I have also tried it enabling mods.

the crash.dmp file doesn't seem to list any offending files - it appears to be a pure binary dump only.

try one of the other builds, either the (https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733) base build (see the very bottom of the first post), or the (https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144312) NecroAge build (the fixed build link at the very top), lets see whether you will get the same issue.

maybe upload the crash dump somewhere, but if one of the up to date builds fixes your issue then it's probably not worth the trouble.

do you have T2Fix installed?

t2fix installed yes,

I will check out the base build and necroage builds

also, try to run them with just the base FMsel and see whether that makes any difference.

I have tried a lot to make T2X crash at this point, but to no avail. Several OS'es, several T2X versions, several loaders - everything worked.-shrug-

we'll see whether it's something the Ricebug build is doing, if not, then we can start the actual troubleshooting (at this point, that build should be considered deprecated and not to be used by anyone, either use the cleaned up base build from the TFix topic or the updated NecroAge build from the NecroAge topic. or the new hdmod build once it's available).

the "T2x_base_11Nov2024.7z" crashes at the same spot. onto the the necro build.
EDIT - I used the skip mission cheats to reach down among the dead using the necro build - Necro build did not crash for me.
EDIT2 - on my old system (stock t2 install t2xfix for the engine updates with no enhancements, no mods install) I cannot recreate the crash. I think it's time to do a re-install on this system........

yes, clean T2Fixed T2 install + T2x base build would be my next suggestion. also if you still have the crash dump, maybe share it (should compress nicely).

I purged the installation folder without backing up any of the crash files.

a fresh install of T2 + latest T2fix I tested ricebugs, the Nov24 and Necro FM builds - skip to down among the dead and none of the versions crashed - something was broken in my prior setup.

ok, good to know. either way, an excellent opportunity to switch to one of the up to date builds, nobody should be using the Ricebug build anymore (I probably should ask admin/mod to add a note somewhere).
