From the Thief Fan Mission FAQ:-
Quote:
Clean Up Of FilesOccasionally you will find that you'll start a new mission and run into problems. For instance, you might load one mission and when you start to play you'll see something that indicates you're going to be playing a mission other than the one you selected or you might experience crashes.
Sometimes DarkLoader or GarrettLoader fails to cleanup the Thief folder while uninstalling a FM, so you might have to do it manually:
Install the original game missions and delete any remains of the following folders in your main Thief folder:
* Pal
* Bitmap
* Books
* Fam
* Intrface
* Obj
* Meshbut don't delete the movies, crfs or the res folder!
Next, reinstall the mission you want to play and it should load properly.
Thanks to SinisterShadow and Yandros for the above information.

Hey, quick question. I'm at the end of the treasure hunt where you pick up the key, but for some reason I can't read the girl's diary. It's highlighted, but not frobbable. How do I read it? And that head is creepy.

Hey, quick question. [...]
This diary
does not contain text, but only a set of drawings from the little girl, much like the ones you saw before already. I think there's some bug present which prvents the pictures from showing up on your computer when you frob the book.
Anyway... You don't need these pictures to finish the game. They show a man with a hat approaching a group of men armed with knives or swords. These are obviously the ones the girl has pictured before already. The man with the hat hands over a small bag to the other men and receives some money in exchange.
Take the wine cellar key lying next to the book and find said cellar (Hint: You passed by it already!), then enter it. The story should proceed normally, and you will soon know what's up with the man with the hat and the armed men.I just replayed "Rose Cottage" today (on Hard), and I had no problem with this book. As I said, it seems to be a strange bug, but it should not have any consequences.

Before I found out what was going on, I thought that the man in the pictures was Garrett, and that the house wasn't haunted, but was just getting recurring visits from our favorite thief.
I was a little disappointed this wasn't the case, but then I remembered it was an awesome map.

Don't know how I missed this one, but what a gorgeous mission! Surely deserves an Academy Award :D Thanks muchly Saturnine.
Everything was just about perfect in this one. Exquisite house and cemetery, superb atmosphere, interesting story, not too easy or too difficult, and genuinely scary in places. This has joined my list of Thief FM special places, and I'll return here now and then, to enjoy a glass of wine on the mezzanine while listening to the whisperings.

I'm late to the party, but wanted to note my own appreciation for this most excellent level! Started off VERY creepy - once the main objective kicked in, some of the creep factor went away, for some reason . . .
But man . . . that doll! 'Eff that little thing!! Made me cringe every time!

Just played this mission, quite an impressive experience!
For me the first half of playing was much better than the second half - probably due to lack of fear in second half, and lack of exploration (though there is some).
I loved the story and hints, writings, props, etc. Loved the slow reveal of the main plot line bit by bit
I didn't like the non-interativity of most things in most rooms (although this DID keep the gameplay focused, but I prefer sandbox gameplay)
I loved the designs, architecture details, attention to small details like great texture placement, little neat things like the egypt pictures and pyramid decorations, etc
I didn't like the ending with no closure on the story, little girl, owner, etc
I loved the attic! (even if it was HUGE!)
I didn't like the silly meta-game tarot card reward
I loved the effects (wall move, dig collapse, urn shadows flickering, etc)
I didn't like the poor performance on my weak laptop - getting sometimes less than 5fps in some areas, had to walk around looking at the floor at times!
I loved the intro movie - WOW!
Well Done!

I can't really remember now. I was hoping Nightwalker would turn up. What about in the crematorium? Behind the fire thing?
