Thanks potatoguy!
In the end only card #4 defeated me :p
PotatoGuy on 28/11/2009 at 18:45
Yeah, that one had me stumped too. I forgot to crouch...:p

A terrific mission, and almost unspeakably beautiful. How far can The Dark Engine be pushed?
Anyway, I have a wee problem. I can't seem to figure out how to dig. I have the proper instrument, and the location is obvious enough, but there doesn't seem to be anything to frob there or interact with in any way. Trying to use the shovel is fruitless. I must be missing something obvious, but I can't for the life of me figure out what. Please assist.

Have you tried crouching?
Vitro13 on 29/11/2009 at 16:15
Ah yes, thank you. Crouching to dig is a trifle counter-intuitive.
Is it just me, or does this FM make TDS a moot point? Why bother with it when the Dark Engine can be coaxed (or perhaps cattle-prodded) into appearing as well (or better) at a fraction of the system requirements? Not to mention that TDS makes me feel like I'm wading through peanut butter all the time, and loot glint is irritating, and...
Anyway, I'm not a designer (I tinkered with Dromed fruitlessly years ago), but from this player's perspective, The Dark Engine gives the Thiefiest experience overall and, with it looking so sharp, appears to be all we really need. Dark Engine missions are all I really need, anyway.

I had some serious issues with this mission. it ran very choppy and crashed several times. One of the thieves didn't die in the holy water no matter what I did. The holy water had also changed appearance -- only the sparklies indicated where the water was.
Other than that the mission looked beautiful and intriguing. What was up with that doll that was "walking" around the house? I last saw her in the catacombs close to where that thief stood by the fountain. What happened to the little girl?

A beautiful and moody FM, well done, Saturnine! My favourite "scare" moments were probably the first look up the attic stairs, the entrance to the master bedroom, and the last encounter with the doll. Oh, and the mannequins.
Also, I'd be grateful if someone could PM me detailed instructions to finding cards 3, 9 and 18.

in Drac's of course, though he's not actually eating it, just doing a bit of sucking up the juices from it!

Ah, c'mon, we all know Dracula sucks!:cheeky:

For some answers about that, look at the spoilers on page 25, especially in Yandros' post.
