i read that about the batteries - BUT -
only stairs i see there are a very short flight of them near the ladder to the journal about the poison plants, and i have looked twice now, even with gamma maxed to bright - and even frobbing like a maniac - no batteries!

The main stairs to the attic are on the east side, leading down to the south. If you face away from the ghost, it's to the left but not in the corner. You should have already opened that door once from the other side and seen skulls on the staircase, and had it slam shut and become unfrobbable.

and promptly jumped back when larry the lightblast hit me rite in my peepers!!!, so i really don't get a good look! :o :p :laff:
btw - without a compass - kinda hard to tell N,S,E,W ya know!
and again - only stairs i see at all are those i mentioned - in the area of the attic with the model of the house!
EDIT - oh hell - there they are!!!!!!!
(ya know - absolute best hint woulda been - "look on the side of a large crate"!!! with a table on it to boot! oy!)
:p ;)
GEEZE - heart attack number 5! (sliding that cabinet and BAM! there's a head with one eye a glarin at me!!!!) lol - kinda reminds me of BA's lil girl in that halloween thread!

Its also personal preference on your scare level. You didn't get scared, others did. All personal preference.
In my opinion, the reason is simply because it's too cliche. Like I said, it's daunting at the start but things moving around or reapparing in front of you have been done (and dare I say better) before. And again, you quickly discover that 5 ghosts are your only problems which kind of puts you at rest, especially the fact that you can almost guess where they will be (Hrm,
attic door shuts in my face! No prizes for guessing what's up there!).
I kind of wish it stayed like how it started - atmosphere. No clever effects or rearranging furniture - just suspence and ambience, and sound effects at the right times and placing. Arriving into the main building to the sound of a Grandfather clock ticking away is a prime example of perfect atmosphere.

The distance you had to be from the cards was carefully set so that you were unlikely to pick them up by randomly frobbing hoping there might be a card you couldn't see. Several of them had the distance you pick them up at increased between the last two betas so that you didn't need to be practically touching them. Card 13 had it's distance reduced so that you wouldn't be able to get it until the main objectives were complete. We didn't want the secret bonus objectives interfering with the mood of the thing in the middle of the mission.
Hrm. I had to pretty much lean into the cards to frob them, with the exception of number 13. I was able to stand infront of the coffins and used Garretts super long arms to do the rest of the work for me!

The things in the safe that aren't the key are there to make it feel more safe like, you can't pick them up.
I think that using the standard Thief scroll, along with the aforementioned key problems made me think that it was a problem rather than the scroll just being junk. Perhaps an update version could replace this model? Just a suggestion.

Okay thats what I saw before and after turning the lights on. The stack never did anything special when the lights went on either. Bug maybe here as well, or I just don't get it. Whats really supposed to happen in the dining room when the lights go on the first time?
It appears that at a certain point the chairs appear to stack themselves even if you haven't touched the light switch. On a replay through last night I noticed that when I opened the safe and walked out the corridor to be greeted by the doll, the chairs rearranged themselves. From what I can see, this is a bug.

I get about 9 if I stand behind the fountain looking at the house, mostly 25-30 in fairly complex places outside with one or two spots dropping to 18ish, inside it's anywhere between 30 and 100 depending on how much stuff is in view.
Frame rate was pretty good on my end. There was no obvious slow downs in any areas I could see, although I haven't tried behind the fountain.
Very, very well done. As I said previously those child's drawing are top class.
Can I also request a copy of the Card's locations? I am still missing a few.

EZ-52, a PM has been sent.
And now also to bdkl. :)

I could use some hints with the card locations as well - if you don't mind :) Thanks.
