It works fine (SP and Coop), what I noticed only that long time what needs for the server starting + if you check the server browser. Is it possible the check the master server? Maybe that causes this long awaiting time.
And yes, it was a strange problem, but fixed by your suggestion. The game crashes when he entered the map in SP, even the movies were played nice. He renamed the movies folder and it worked! :)) Thanks again!

Ah, so is multiplayer working now then?

Yes, it's working! :D
But would be good to restart the master server.

I agree, but I have no control over that. Tos has control over the master server. I can try and ask him about it, but beyond that there is nothing we can do except connect manually.

Thank you if you ask him.

Have you actually tried to connect to the master server lately? I talked to him and he said it should be up. Try again.

Thank you, it's working!

Great!

So I've tried getting this after installing the Steam version of Thief 2, and it didn't work at all.
I know you can't use NewDark, and I suppose it's because of my not so 2000ish hardware that I can't even get it to run. I even tried slapping some DDfix I found.
If I just did things wrong, could anyone tell me what steps should I take to make it work? Would even a virtual machine work? I'm willing to do most but "oh find another old PC"
Should I post my specs just for kicks?

It's been a long time since I've gone through the process, but from what I recall, you first need to copy the thief2.exe from the multiplayer patch and then you either have to use ddfix gui to apply ddfix to thief 2, or use a hex editor to add the proper line in the exe.
Beyond that, the only thing I can suggest is check the settings for ddfix, perhaps try some compatibility options (like say, make thief 2 shortcut run in windows xp compatibility)...
And yeah, it certainly wouldn't hurt if you posted your specs here.
