I think my Thief got cursed or something. First T2X stopped working, then bugs in FMs appeared, and now movies in T2 are not playing.
I have read that I need to reinstall some codecs, but all the links are dead.
Edit: restarting Thief solved the problem.

Did it solve the T2X problem? These days I very rarely get a borked installation but it does happen. I have a 'clean' copy of T2 on my hard drive that I use that to do a new run with Tafferpatcher which tends to resolve my problems.
If you could post where/what links for codecs you were looking at, I could see if I can find some working ones to replace the dead ones.

Hello, nickie. As for T2X, reinstall did not help. A full reinstall of T2 also didn't help. I haven't tried it sice. I might dowload Ricebug's FMSel-ready version later and try it again.
As for the codec links, I just searched the forums with "T2 movies not working", mostly I found threads from 2003, and the links to dowmload the required codecs given there are already dead.

Definitely try the FMSel-ready versions. I added a couple of links for the HD and Necro Age modded versions to the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139559) FM forum info sticky yesterday, I think. But let us know if you have problems if and when you do try any of those.
If the threads are from 2003 then I would expect there are no live links because they're no longer needed.

The movies aren't working again, and now restart of the game doesn't help. Rebooting the PC does. Sometimes. I just don't know what's happening, is it a problem with Thief, or have my PC gone mad?

I wish I could help and I'm surprised you haven't had any replies. The only question I can think of is do the movies play reliably on their own - not through the game? Are you still talking about T2 movies?
I'm also assuming you have tried the other 'fixes' in the FAQ as you mention reinstalling the codecs. I also expect you've searched through the Tafferpatcher thread.

Thanks, nickie. Yes, T2 movies. I can play them outside the game, but in-game they sometimes don't work. Even the "Mission Accomplished" movie. I have fully reinstalled Thief with the Tafferpathcer, and it also didn't help. The thing is - I haven't changed anything in my PC settings, nor in Thief, but suddenly, a whole array of problems appeared. I haven't noticed problems with my PC outside of Thief though.
