Hello is there a list anywhere of inventory items and their object names?
I would like to create some custom binds within user.bnd so I can bring up certain items which the normal in-game customise binds screen does not allow access to. But first I would need to know the engine names to add to the line:
bind somekey "inv_select someitem"
I have read of a BINDCMDS.STR file but can't find it in the T2 folder, so maybe it is hidden away in an archive file?
It would be useful to be able to bring up the signal bolt, bantam node etc in Soulforge with a hotkey rather than having to scroll through a very long list of items each time I play it :)

Try checking out objnames.str in /strings/English. You may have to get it from the RES folder.

objnames.str is not relevant for keybinds.
@Cigam: You can find bindcmds.str inside intrface.crf (which is just a renamed zip file, so is easy to unpack)
The object names used in the inv_select commands are the archetype names from the gamesys in Dromed.

Thanks vfig. Unfortunately I don't know how to use DromEd but had a look at some saves in notepad. Most of it is gibberish but it seems the inventory names are there in plain text. With a bit of trial and error I did find out that:
Steel Plate = PlateO'Metal
Gauge = InvGauge
Bantam Node = BantamNode
But could not find the Signal Bolt archetype name. So if any passing modders happen to know it please say :) Those are the four items needed for the creation of the Guiding Beacon.
On another note, I found an item "RamirezSignet" - does anyone know what that is and why it is in Thief II?

HIPStage0 is what you want.
The full list of manufacturing components from Soulforge is: BantamNode, IronChassis, WireSpool, AcidMixture, PlateO'Metal, FluxSpheroid, MineBulb, QuickLimeMixture, FlareMixture, RegRound, InvGauge, HIPStage0, HIPStage1, HIPStage2, HIPStage3, HomingIntact
As for RamirezSignet: it's Ramirez's signet ring. T2 still has a lot of object definitions (and often the models too) from T1.

Great! Have now mapped the beacon components to keys. I play Soulforge quite regularly ATM so this will save time standing in front of machines scroll-scroll-scrolling until I find the wanted item :)
Thanks again vfig.
