Nevermind; I was having serious difficulty with the blasted magic torch puzzle but FINALLY got it! (Only took an hour plus.) :erg:

When you frob a torch it changes its state and the state of the 2 torches each side of it.
The instructions don't say "light the torches in this order", they say "use the wand on the torches in this order". Using the wand changes the state of all the torches in the group of three, not just one of them.
So the first time round you light several torches. The 2nd time round you will extinguish most of them. The 3rd time round sorts things out.
Edit: No, I haven't gone mad. I was replying to a long post by Dia which has been replaced by the one-liner above!

Sorry ffox; my apologies for editing my post! I was so damn frustrated by the torch puzzle that I wanted to scratch somebody. And yeah, it took me an hour to realize that ('using' wasn't the same as 'lighting' - I didn't realize you extinguish them as well as light them which was precisely what was throwing me off. :o
Thanks for your response. Finished now (and hoping I don't have nightmares tonight). :cheeky:

Marvelous mission, Haplo! Kudos!! And many thanks for all your time and effort!
I've completed this mission and I've got all the objectives including the bonus ones checked off. I even got the easter-egg scroll - using the slow-fall potion to jump across.
However, I missed 1300 loot. I can see more loot inside the room behind the still-closed gate on the west side of the lower level of the tall round room - the one where Gaspar fell from the broken bridge. How do I get this door to open? Does it have something to do with the fact that I didn't use a holy water arrow on the blade before I took it? Is there some way I can get this final gate open somehow?

Are you talking about one of the rooms with flashbombs in them? If so, they open automatically each time a guardian is destroyed.

Excellent Mission!!!.
I'm Stuck with the Withered tree puzzle, known to solve the flameless torch puzzle. I have the Moss arrow, but I don't know where to shot it to. In the first book, gaspar talk about shooting moss arrow to a dead symbol, but I don't know which are they. I can't continue.
Any specific hint, I already readed all the thread.

after you do the withered tree u go down a ladder and end up in a room with a bunch of little statues (loot) and a
room partly blocked off (crouch to go in) - in that room there's a bunch of broken statue pieces, wrecked furniture, broken sword and arrow, and a square opening into another hallway like area.
am i supposed to able to get into that opening? cuz i am having an unholy tuff time doing so!
(along with quite vivid language!) :p ;)
(anyone in hearing distance will have lost their aural 'innocence'!) :laff:

Well, you indeed can get into that hole, there is an object in all the map that let's you pass,
if you got entrance to the very first secret relating to your starting point, then you can figure out what to do.On a side note.. I can tell that after finishing this mission, I think that most people are used to play linear missions, but get confused at non linear ones like this. Being a non native english spoker (i'm spanish), things get more interesting.
Congrats HAplo. :D

Hmm, personally i prefer to have things i need to think about more than just yet another
"hunt the key"/"find the itty bitty teeny weeny switch located in the damndest place you could ever imagine" type of mission! :cheeky:
Now, i guess i gotta de-'crypt' your meaning as to a "secret" that has to do with the start of the mission!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
oopsie - i meant after u do the tree and THEN do the flameless fire u then go down a ladder!
and I dont get what "object" you mean - only thing i usually use to help me go thru small tight openings like that square hole is a crate!
i went back to the very first room you start in tho and as i passed between the two wall decorations
i heard a door slide/grind open - what's that all about?
heh he - ok thanx again man!
