I have identified
three in the Library
two in 2 different security rooms
a basement banner
a coat hook
a wardrobe next to the priest
Theodore's wardrobe
and a purse very high up.Can I get a more specific hint for the
purse very high up? It's the only secret I am missing.
Superb mission, I had so much fun.
Fumbled figuring out the murderer several times (4 fails!) until I went around the whole place one more time and read everything. Turns out I had cared too much about likely motive and who would be good at using the murder weapon than I did to the notes about where the people would be at the time of the murder. (I figured some of that may be fake if they had planned the murder.)
Early on, I had ruled out three people based on where they had said they would be. After reading everything, I had further narrowed it down to two suspects - plus the unlikely event that Lord Duncan had decided to end himself in his drunken state (
but then it's hard to explain the several hits to the head...). Picked the one I knew had been close to the scene of the murder at the time -
the opera diva. This turned out to be the right choice.

I once again have to appreciate what a superb fanmission this is. I´m currently replaying alot of missions with gamestyle ghosting and the smart AI that turns on the lightning again after turning it off, makes it a great challenge.
Also the two guards that walk into the vault room. As soon as they notice the vault is open, they will turn on the alarm. So cool :)
Though I didn´t ghost it 100%, because I just insist on hitting that Raymund bastard with my blackjack :laff: I still think it´s a real pity that I can´t frame him for either the murder or the theft :D
Anyway once again a big huge thanks so much for this great mission :thumb:

What a fantastic mission. I loved the investigative aspects, and putting together the clues was more fun than I'd have expected. I got Judith, the cook, poisoned him with wolfsbane because he killed her son and got away with it. Hearing that the killer is randomized is really neat, and I'll probably play a few more times just to experience that. The mansion design is beautiful, with plenty of creepy bits as well. The card side-story really sucked me in, and finding each one felt like a little prize all its own. The curse spirit popping up when you grab some of the diary entries was super spooky, and the sound effects did a great job of building dread.
However, the fact that there's so many cards put a serious damper on things. I ended up clearing the mission of guards and shut down all the cameras, so I was just running around on a pixel hunt, eventually pulled up the walkthrough on my phone and just found them that way. Took me an two hours of steadily increasing frustration, especially when some of the hints were just obscure. I think this would've been much better if you didn't need so many; maybe just the royals, or a single suit, to give us a bit of challenge without dragging things on. The end result of finishing the card quest was just... not enough to justify all that work. And it did feel like work, not gameplay.
Overall a fantastic mission with one sticking flaw. Worth replays, but not that side objective.

I fully agree.
Having only the "royals" would mean 16 cards instead of 52 - a huge difference in gameplay. But even as it is, this mission is an absolute 10/10 masterpiece in my opinion. One of my all time favs.
For those that struggle with the cards and want a video solution, here is an excellent walkthrough just for that from the youtube user "cvl00101":

If you are missing only specific cards, you can use the time marks for each card in the comment section.

Thirding this, 52 hidden playing cards is excessive. I simply didn't bother with this side quest when I realized how many there are. Rose Cottage handled it better with a more manageable 20 hidden tarot cards. At the same time, both missions wisely make this part of the mission optional.

I collected all cards the first time I played the mission, but did not do it the second or the third time. Laziness, I guess. Still, it is one of my favourite missions, and I would love to play more new missions like this one. Conspiracies in the Dark were superb, too.
