I didn't have a problem with the sound of the wind, I found if I listened carefully there were louder wind sounds when you stood in the middle of the pathways, then moving very slightly in each direction I could hear whether the wind sound level remained the same or got quieter, if if went quieter that was obviously not the direction to go. Yes I made a couple of errors and fell to my death but that was mainly due to moving too far before I was completely sure if that was the correct direction to go.
For me, it was not possible to rely on the sounds. Sometimes, these were easy to be heard, sometimes not at all - even when I went back and forth (or sideways and back) just a few inches. Other tricks (e.g.,
shooting moss arrows at the (invisible) ground, dropping mines or other expandable stuff, ...) also did not work well enough. However, about half an hour I finally found a solution that is relatively easy to use and, technically, no cheat: I brought
two crates through the mirror and stacked them on the far left of the wooden platform (where the two plaques with hints are), right below the metal railing up there. I climbed on top of the stack and made a small step away from the rail, then did a running jump combined with mantling, and in two mantling steps Garrett made his way over the railing and onto the walkway beyond. From there, going towards the Air Stone and back again was easy.:cheeky:

Interesting to know about the mechanical eye not working when the hanging arrow issue is present, didn't know that, but then again I can't remember the last time I used that equipment, but yes did know that you can't throw mines either, came across that in What lies Below.
Well, I did not have the hanging arrows bug there. I could shoot them there, but failed to kill the
robot child in the area with that. Just anything "tossable" (mines, flashbombs, eye) did not work, but instead, Garrett reacted as if he had picked them up the moment they left him: The inventory animation of the objects restarted from the beginning, and there was a sound as if Garrett had just picked up some gear. I did not know that these two bugs/effects were somehow connected either.

True fogging is used in the lower basement.
... just shortly before that, I stopped looking for fog on the one machine that should display it, and continued to play on the "fogless" computer.

By "round spheres" to you mean faint patches of fog done with particle effects? Just to be sure can you confirm this is what you see and not literally spheres floating around....?
Yes, it's certainly a faint, most likely particle-based fog, and not (if that's what you were fearing) another case of the
light sphere enemies appearing in the wrong place after taking the Light Stone. Those appeared in the hall between
the magical elevator platforms and the mirror going back to the ballroom rafters, as they should. The "particle fog", instead, was there when the mission began as well as when it ended, and the faint "fog spheres" were moving very slowly, not reacting in any way on Garrett. They were no AI's.
Such "fog spheres" have been used in other missions as well, and the ones I saw here are in no way exceptional.

Nice, I actually left the crate workaround for anyone having issues. I knew bringing crates into portals was possible so if someone had issues with air stone I thought maybe they could use them to find a work around. Turns out I was right! From what it sounds like the issue is the space between the ambient sound markers. Because they fade in and out as you run. I can probably double the amount of sound markers filling in any gaps and help with that.
Good to hear about the fog. Downwinder having the light elementals at the end was the first I've heard of it and I have not been able to reproduce it myself.

Kin,
For sword,
check the walls carefully around the bed area. Seems to be common for people to miss this. Read the note carefully in one of the guest rooms for light. Air will be easy to spot once you find the sword.OK found everything but the
sword. I have spent an unhealthy amount of time searching the
walls around the guest beds with no avail. Any direct hint would be apreciated.

kin if you got all crystals then you had to pass right by sword when going to mirror in rafters cant remember what area it was, but sword is right below when you drop down to leave impossible to miss
also go to room at very top of elevator passed the metal guards, and check the right side beam next to the bed for a tiny hard to see switch to get last crystal and sword after, i am pretty sure that is where it was

open the door leading to the balcony and mantle it, easily reaching the flat roof without falling down. I don't know if that was the intended way to find the ring.

finished on Hard, in just over 5 hours, with 10500 loot and 7/15 secrets. really loved the castle layout, it was a lot of fun to explore and dodge guards (mostly successfully) in.
but—with two exceptions—i did not like the stone rooms at all; i did enjoy the water room, mostly thanks to the readable found there; and the fire room was also nice. i stumbled into four of them (light, earth, water, darkness) without even having any idea what they were or why i was collecting these stones. and only after that i found my way into Sarnia's room and read the note that explained what they were for and how many of them there were—but, unhelpfully, with no hints at all as to the location of the remaining two. then, making notes on the map as to where i had found the others, i guessed that there was one stone per floor below the sword, and finding the fire stone seemed to bear that out. but try as i might, i couldnt find the air stone at all. it obviously had to be accessed from the throne room in keeping with my theory... i had been in and searched the bedroom fairly thoroughly and found nothing there, so concluded that however the sword was to be found would only become apparent once i had all the stones.
in the end i got stuck and came looking for hints here, and learned about the switch in the bedroom, and now, knowing that it was there to find, searched again and found it. unless i missed something, there was nothing in any readable to even hint that that room was where i would need to go; and to have such a tiny well-hidden switch be mandatory to find isnt great. ah well.
so now with five stones in hand, i knew where the sword was, and the sixth mirror became evident too. i have to say i had the same difficulties as baeuchlein and JarlFrank with the air room - the sounds did not seem to indicate anything about where the platforms were with any reliability: neither position nor direction. i dont know understand how this area was supposed to work, but in the end i just felt my across with lots of trial and error and quickloading. made for a rather unsatisfying end to the mission, unfortunately!
once i had the sword, i hoped that i would be able to make an enormous swan dive from the upper floors into the moat. wouldve been great fun to end with that! but i couldnt quite manage it, and had to schlep my way down the stairs like any other schlub.

vfig, thanks for reponse.
In version 1.1 I plan to add visual clue for the hard to find switch to sword people are having trouble with.
The thing I question: "there was nothing in any readable to even hint that that room was where i would need to go" as Garrett's notes that you start with state that the Sword "is rumored to be at the top of the castle in the owner's personal quarters" and the map of the castle also points to the top floor with "Sword?" pointing there. I do wonder if people saw this and thought this information was false since it is only stated as rumor when they reached the top and did not find the sword in his room immediately? Or maybe just did not read or overlooked this information and the map? But I explicitly put the readable there and that on the map there so people would know where they should be trying to go to find the sword. I guess I can add in notes to check readable Garrett has in the beginning for information about the sword's location...?
Anyway, my "visual clue" should be more than enough to help going forward once players get to Credulo's room.
Also, for the air stone, I wonder if some sound is bugged? I can always hear audibly the wind sounds which are only on the path vs the no wind sound off the path. You know you are right on the path if the wind sounds center and clear in headphones vs faint to one side or not at all. I will double the number of sound markers ... it may help fill in the sound of the wind more consistently on the path.

For me it was rather clear that I need to go to the top of the castle to find the Sword or at least to make some progress in finding it. It took me a while to find the hidden switch, however. I thought it would be somewhere behind the bed or immediately next to it. Well, the lever was actually not too far from the bed, but it was very small and I discovered it by randomly clicking.

Just finished, a true work of art. Thanks for this mission
