Of course there is a book on Garrett's life in the library of Babel. There is at least a book on yours too. But you can't find it.
What about electronic books? Is there a printed version in the library? If so, its there a book containing all the string files that become readables in this game, thereby making a huge meta-fourth-wall-breaking circle? :p
Very beautiful mission! How did you get the monk's shoulders to look so nice? That is, not flat and square as is typical? If it's possible to make AI that nice, I don't see why we don't have most AI remade to be realistic-looking like that!

The AI was done by PinkDot. I'd say it is the most beautifully detailed AI in the Thief world. The face is just amazing.

Someone needs to find PinkDot and pin his arm until he admits how he got those shoulders to look so fantastically round!
Yes, the rest of the AI is amazing, too, but not undoable by someone with enough vision and talent. I really have no clue how those shoulder animation bugs were fixed.

Thank you Haplo, I had a very nice 45 mins with this one. Keep them coming!:D (Something like UVI, perhaps?)

Haplo did a great job with this mission (as well as the previous one), what I have already told him. There's few missions (of what I know) that make some references to the world and art outisde the Thief Universe. Game, that makes you want to stop playing and start reading a book! :)
I'm really happy Haplo took my abandoned stuff, as it did not get wasted that way. Now I can close my eyes for ever, being peaceful about my old creations... ;)

I'm glad you like the monk model. It was my first character ever, and one of very few I actually created later...
To satisfy your curiosity - here's the image of the monk's mesh:

His shoulders might appear round, due to increased polycount compared to original models, or just specific design - hood outline smoothly goes into the shoulder. Also, as you can see, the deforming planes for the shoulder encompass vertices even near the elbow. In contrary, elbow could benefit from more vertices there, for better stretching. I'd say there was a lot of chance, that it turned out the way it did.
Hope this wasn't too techie for this forum. ;)

The simple answer is - it takes a lot of time. (I know it sounds obvious). I have actually started exploring an idea of remodelling all characters for Thief to make them looking closer to nowadays standards, but unfortunately lack of time is the main problem. Unless somebody wants to go through the models and just add more polygons here and there, keeping most of the model and texture the same. But that wouldn't be a big leap in quality...

What you need for the
rat is something pretty obvious, but it can be easily missed.
Go to
the boarded up doorway nearby and look around carefully.
One of the items you are asking for will be helpful.
The
sponge can be used to
clean something (a
hand-mirror).
The
glue can not be picked up.
You will simply use it once you find another item, which will be helpful to get the
key.

You can give some
cheese to the
rat and it will return this favor to you by giving you something in return.
But first, where is the
cheese? Go to the
doorway a few rooms further on, which is not accessible, because it is bricked up/boarded up.Look around.
High up is a
spider web with some cheese.Throw the
rock to bring it down.
