I think I psyched myself out and forgot that if a door isn't locked, trying a key or lockpick won't open the door. :erg:

Perhaps the door is cursed, and at first pretends to be locked. But once all available keys and lockpicks have been tried, the door suddenly becomes unlocked.:ebil:
