I like that in this mission many guards. In many FMs they are few, so the game is boring. However, I would give the player more equipment to balance the odds.
Moreover, this is Expert. I've never played on other difficulty levels, but I'm sure there are fewer guards on Normal.
I think it is quite believable, given the plot. Sheriff sent the whole army of cops for searching missing nobles.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to say that I finished this wonderful FM five times or so.

piesel, you may be right. But keep in mind that it was my first mission, and I was a FPS player before starting to build my own FMs. The mission can't be played "ghost style", so I took for granted that everyone will have played it my style, "blackjack everyone". :o
As for the many AIs, unfortunately they tend to group, even if you put them scattered along a path. I only realized it when the mission was completed.
Sorry if the FM is a chore for you. I tried to redeem myself with the successive missions.....

Don't worry, maybe my comment seems harsh but i'm really enjoying the mission, i really like the story and i have eliminated almost every guard so i'm more in control now. Also would like to thank you for creating Seven Sisters as it's one of my all time favorite FM's.
Ciao da un connazionale ;)

That's my favourite style. The guards now call me "Mr. Headache".:cheeky:

Strange, I never noticed that in "Rowena's Curse", although I have played it several times on different machines. I could still blackjack the guards one victim after another, with only a few exceptions.

I think the amount of guards is just spot on. I and many other players like a challenge, and those who don't, can use the lower difficulties. I think the only place with "too" many guards was the front yard. It was really hard to get to the exit, but not impossible obviously. But I think the amount did serve the story; the bluecoats were really confused and really low discipline, so they just had to go with sheer numbers and try to guard the front gate, so no one could get in. Hence the quotation marks. And in the end I think everyone can get through this mission, there are not that many of them. Just more than usually.
About ghosting: I think it's just an artificial boundary the players set to themselves, and apparently even to the authors these days. If a mission can't be played with your style, who's fault is it? Storywise, I think Garrett tries to be as invisible as possible, but since he already has gained a name in the City, he wouldn't mind being seen or using minimal violence when needed, as long as he can get the job done, and no innocents get killed. In no way, it is a failure of the author to make a mission unghostable. Making a mission too easy or mediocre would be.
And since I dropped by here, I can use the chance to say that I really loved this mission. It was a true FM masterpiece. I think the tension grew up really nicely and you never (until the very finish) ruined it by smacking the monster to the player's face, but you instead just kept building it up. I remember, after read some revealing readables I became really scared when entering any new room, because I didn't know what was to come. The tunnels, Rowena's room and the pit were especially scary, even though there weren't actually anything scary. It was just the not knowing. All readables were long, but I did enjoy every page, as they were excellent. It was really exciting just to explore this place and find all those secret passages. Oh, the guards. They were really lucky not knowing what was going on :D

Many tanks DiMarzio for the comments, and everyone who played and enjoyed the mission. :)
Actually I was really really inexperienced, and I made many mistakes. The worst one was to force the player to combat and kill. If I had to rebuild the mission today, I would find another solution.

I'm just playing this and I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've done so, none of this is familiar
Happy day :cheeky:

So jealous, it is a masterpiece!
If I had one of those neuralizers, from Men in Black, I would use it to replay the best FMs over and over, and keep them eternally fresh.
