I replayed this fantastic fm, but it crashed at the second mission in the attic-room at the highest point of a building that you get there climbing long ladder. There is a closed window with some white markings below it. I jumbed to see if it is frobable and the game crashed deleting all my fm save games (including other fm's I was playing with fmsel). If anyone has a save close to that point I would be gratefull.

I cannot identify the room you are describing, Kin. Is it the top of a tower-like building where a guard lives? Is that second mission "Escape from Raven Creek", or do you mean "The Hammerites of Raven Creek"?

The first one (with the guard) in the Escape from Raven Creek.

The first what? First building? Raven Creek is a city where you can wander around rather freely, so there's no accurate definition of what any "first building" might be.
Let's try to identify the room this way:
There is a tower rather close to Garrett's home and starting point. At least on Hard difficulty, the door to that tower is locked, and one can steal a "Watch Tower" key from a guard that patrols near the tower, and then unlock the door. There are three levels there; no one is on the first, and one guard sleeps on the second level. Near or on this guard, there is a second "Watch Tower" key. On the third level, there's the attic. It contains, among some other things, one archery target on the south wall, two "guard puppets" for target practice at the south wall, a closed (and not open-able) window on the north wall, a chest in the northeast corner, and a frobbable copy of the city's newspaper. A lamp is hanging from a beam above. There is white stuff below that window, on the wall, and there's similar stuff on the south wall. This seems to be spider webs.
Is that the room in question?
If so, then I am a bit puzzled. Jumping up and down there dows not crash my game. And while there are sometimes notable lags in the city below, if one has a large and open area in view, there is no lag up there in the attic I described. Thus, it does not look like the game cannot handle the view up there.
By the way, to get to this mission, you can usually skip the first one by pressing SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+END right after starting that first mission. This finished the first mission and places you at the beginning of the second mission in a short time, and that would be close to the tower I described above.
Do you use any texture pack, like the Enhancement Pack (EP, EP2), or the HD Mod for the game? This could overload the game. If possible, deactivate any texture mod for a short test, and then see whether jumping in that attic makes the game crash.
Do you have a graphics resolution higher than about 1280x768 pixels? If so, try to lower that resolution for a "jumping test",
Besides, I have absolutely no explanation for the deleted savegames. The most I lost when Thief crashed was the save games of the actual mission, and only these made since last playing the mission. This is very strange.

weird how people hate spiders so much, when in this series we get the worst thing ever "snakes in the lawns" omg trying to arrow them is brutal and the frontal sword attack is going to get bloody :P
and i am not even sure the one big one is ever killable the Mumba/python looking one
spiders are like hot air balloons compared to the snakes

Use fire arrows on the snakes. Works rather well. I don't know about the large one, though.
Concerning spiders... well, I don't have much fear or hate concerning real ones. However, I remember reading someone's treatise on that, or at least skimming over the text. If I got it right, the author said that it's an ancient hate/fear thing we have for these alien creatures. Not many other living beings we come across do have eight legs and such. Or they are much smaller than the largest spiders we may know from our environment.
The spiders in "Thief", however, are different for me. The small ones are hard to hit and quick to deal damage to the player, and the large ones jump around like crazy and may deal even more damage. They are quite difficult enemies for me when I play the game. Not that the snakes are much better... I can hardly see them when they're hidden in the grass. And I also remember them from Christine's "Pirates ahoy!"... not a good sort of memories, I may add.

it's ok! I managed to find it on my own! but now I have another problem! I went down the hole that the burricks supposedly escaped through...but I can't find anything there! is something supposed to be there?

Ok maybe I was too lazy to describe it. It was the tower like building with a ladder going all the way up in the second mission "Escape from Raven Creek". There is a guard in a middle floor of the tower, and at the top there is a closed window with some sort of white markings below it on the wall.
Anyway I restarted the mission and keep a copy of my quicksave file on my desktop every now and then just in case.

Do you mean the bit at the end of Mission 2 where you go into the tunnel in the butcher's barn? I think the mission is meant to end a few moments after you emerge on the other side.
