My latest map (started ten years ago) doesn't take long at all to process...but it is still 99% brush work and lights and not really big. But that's with new dark. Back in the day even this modest map took quite some time to optomize and re-light...so I would spin my chair around 180 and play piano until the little bell rang or Russell said "I think my work here is done." Dromed chops over here...piano chops 180 over here.

Possible..
I think if you get Tafferpatcher it includes all the updates if you want to try it, which you can find links to here on the forums. :) Be sure to save a backup of your Thief directory though, before making any changes.
I have Tafferpatcher already! I am confuse. :(
All these newfangled updates and downloads and newdarks and whatnot are getting so complicated. *angrily thumbs old-lady cane*

I'm completely stumped at the very beginning. It's very depressing.
I was able to get into the inn... but that's about it. I want to go northeast to the abbey, but I'm blocked at every turn. I can't get through on dry land, and the only two manholes I can reach take me nowhere, just another way to the entrance I already saw, and more of the same dang inn. I even got up on a roof and jumped over one of the locked gates. It just took me to yet another view of the inn!
I must have missed a whopper of a path, because I can't get anywhere at all.
All right, I was finally able to get a little bit farther, through the sewers into the orchid house and into the pink trees. Maybe I can get out and onto my destination?
Nope, still stuck in the stupid sewers. Interest is waning.

Persevere with the locked gates where you can use your rope arrows on adjoining walls. Plus, I didn't realise for quite a long time that the locked gates had locks that could be picked. Once they're all open it makes it a lot easier.

Did you find the
rope arrows in the garden shop? Sounds like you were in the basement area there with the trees, but not sure if you got the rope arrows from the top floor? You can traverse the town gate using a rope arrow.

Pukey Brunster,
By the time I finally got the rope arrows, my brain was fried from about an hour and a half of going in circles. Besides, it was about 3:00 am.
Now, post sleep-cycle, I'm ready to take another shot. I'll go after the pickable gates and ropable buildings when I can get back to the game. Thanks!

This FM has been quite entertaining and atmosphere has been very enjoyable. Great job PB. :D :thumb::cool:
I have all objectives fulfilled on Expert but have only round stone keys and would like to know where to use them and obtain the others as well.
The angry haunted red cloud from the young girl painting has already been appeased with a flower and it left a clue about a clocktower for something but I do not remember what it said.
The keys I have were obtained from the invisible zombie in the canals, and another I believe from the fire monk from the tomb access ways.
Is the next key in the clocktower of the gallery? If so, how can I get up there?
I could end the mission just by going back to the attic, but I would like to get more of those stone keys if I can, and I know there has got to be more loot spread around as well.
BTW, I took the gallery tour again after most of the nasties had been dispatched. There is hidden button to bring the underworld elevator back up and the tour can be explored again.
I would like to thank everyone for any help offered in this FM.
Also thank you Fen for posting your video explorations, I enjoy those almost as much as playing the FMs. :laff: :thumb:

Thanks for the help. I made it through on hard. Doing it again on Expert. This mission has so much going for it. I have been around the same town at least 100 times retracing my steps and I still get lost. Frustrating at times but it gives it good replay value. So I am wandering around aimlessly trying to figure out how to use these Stone Keys and I notice you have placed moths around some of the street lights. That is fantastic. I don't think I have seen that done before. tiny little birds Wow! That's some amazing use of Dromed.
Anyway, some hint as to where to find information on these stone keys and where to place them.

Great mission, can anyone give a hint or two on how to get the stone key for the North? thanks
