Oh wow.... I just realized that somehow I have never played this mission! Guess what I get to do this afternoon! :ebil:

Melan, I want to thank you for this mission. It is undoubtedly the greatest city mission ever IMO. The scope, the style, the gameplay, everything is as faithful to the original missions as I've seen in a FM, which I know is a huge part of your focus. Congratulations and thanks again for this gem!

Thank you for your comments, Yandros! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

This is a similar style to the first level. Very enjoyable but again the loot beat me. And this time I played on Normal! Having completed all other objectives I eventually found myself going round and round the streets. Sometimes finding a new area to climb but with no reward or reaching an area I'd already been. The river was a great ride which was just as well because I ended up in it many times!
Although I always start out with good intentions (ghosting), in an FM like this, after many journeys it was inevitable that more and more AI felt the benefit of my blackjack and sword until I was the last man standing AFAIK.
I never got into the mage shop and I found a loose stone in the stonemason's which seemed to be looking through to the rooms above the butcher. But I never found any way in there nor why there was a loose stone.
As with the first mission in this series I thought it best to stop while I was still enjoying it. Both excellent but left me without anything to work with. I might browse this thread now.
I was totally absorbed for well over three hours logged game time plus reloads and thinking time more like ten. :thumb:

Go back to the loose stone and look at the hole again. You should see something to frob if I remember correctly. It will answer your other question as well.:thumb:

OK, thanks got it. :thumb: There's nothing directly in the hole and my eyesight was not good enough to make out the glimpses through it when I take a few steps back except what looked like a body. But if I keep moving back and forth near the hole the player bob gives momentary flashes of something flashing in the other room. So I did a blind frob at the hole.
Now I have 998 and only need 2 loot. I have one other thing I picked up from this thread so I'll check that tomorrow.

I am sure this is just putting salt into the wound, but I never thought the loot goal was particularly hard in this mission. :laff: (as long as you make sure to explore the level thoroughly)

Maybe but I no longer have a motive. If you do all the main objectives (on Normal) and go all around the streets stripping away all you can find you finish up with about 900 odd loot (or even less) and all objectives complete.
Perhaps I was lucky at solving the main objectives without finding too many secret areas so there is nothing left to do but search an entire city for I know not what; without motivation but a blind search of streets I've already been around several times to find 2 units of loot. It doesn't appeal to me. I like something to work at and be involved in to motivate me.
If I had not completed the main objective I would likely still be searching and find more incidental areas with loot.
As I say, there is one area I'm going back to for a quick look based on something I read in this thread but it would never occur to me otherwise.
I must add in case the above sounds critical I tremendously enjoyed this and the previous mission! In fact it is influencing me to add more little ledges and windows to find in the city area of my own upcoming Dark Mod FM if time.

No, no luck. What I was investigating was I'd read in this thread the sewer rotary controls were some kind of diversion and something to do with keepers so I searched around that area more thoroughly but didn't find anything. OK, I'm moving on now...

As a sidenote of sorts, did the TLLG forum ever vote on the Best FM of 2009?
Because in my opinion, this FM wins that award, despite some really good entries that year.
