Yes. I read that post. It's not helping. That route takes me outside to a ridge and a beam that leads to another building (baby crib on the level below). That's "The Poor House" isn't it? Either way, there is no elevator there.
If instead of crossing the beam you walk along the ridge, you come to another grate, but that doesn't lead anywhere I haven't been before (jumping over the statues...been there, done that). It leads to the waterfall, which I've already covered (
sneaky way to the sewers already found)
In the other direction, the ridge ends but you can see a warehouse door covered with 2 planks. Is that accessable?
Clock, here's your answer.
In warehouse #8, which you use the 2 crates to enter at the top, you'll find another grate under the metal ledge that has the lever that you cannot frob. You must swim, face the orange metal pathway ledge and it's directly under it. I had a hard time finding this myself. You'll then see the elevator.Phil

No,
Martek's directions are right.
After climbing the ladder & making the 1st jump (& getting to the place from which to access the waterfall) turn south & make another jump between statues, then turn west. (The Poorhouse is farther south). But that doesn't take me anywhere I haven't already been. I still can't find an elevator that has 4 buttons. The elevator I'm familiar with has only 2 buttons and it leads to the spider at the top and has the pickable "gate" halfway down.

Clock,
I just explained it. There are 3 warehouse rooms, 4, 7, and 8. To get to the elevator with 4 floors, you need to be in room 8 as I described above. I'm not talking anywhere near the spider area.

Totally blown away by this mission. Playing it for the second time and still finding places not visited. Many thanks Melan.
Need a spoiler. First time round I found the tarnished key quickly. Now I can't remember where I found it. Hint please.
On edit: As is always the way, found it 10 seconds later.

There it is !!
Thanks Philflound, and thanks Sticky for being patient.
That was a truly brilliant place to locate an access route. Like a magician who guides your eye in one direction in order that you miss the trick, you enter room 8 thinking that the loot and the lever to exit was all there was to that room.
The rating from Garrettloader for this mission was 6/10 when I started, which I think is awfully low. I'm giving it a 9 regardless of my difficulties in order to scew it upwards. This is at least an 8 mission.
Thanks Melan.

Nevermind - missed your post, above... :pQuote Posted by Clock

If it doesn't take you there it is because you have not been through
Warehouse 8 yet. To get through
warehouse 8 you can either go through
warehouse 7 (via the
ridge/beam path you previously mentioned), or the most direct way, if you aren't already on the
ridge/beam side of things, is described in the post I previously pointed someone else to, in my post that you may have overlooked: (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1871590#post1871590).
From there you will be able to
open from the other side a connecting passage to the area you described in an earlier post: "
If instead of crossing the beam you walk along the ridge, you come to another grate, but that doesn't lead anywhere I haven't been before (jumping over the statues...been there, done that)"

Happy to see you got there,
Clock, & apologies for any confusion I caused.
After your 2nd post i went back into the game & checked the pathway I described -
it is right, but only if you've already been there via warehouse 8 & opened the gate on one side of the ruby-eyed skull room with the lever on the other wall. I'd gotton there via warehouse 8 myself (some time ago, it seems) & forgot about that damn gate.
I've really got to stop trying to answer questions during bouts of insomnia :tsktsk:

What!?Oh well, to each their own, but for me this is 10 / 10. I see Disorientation as not just a brilliantly-made FM, but one which lives right at the heart of what Thief truly is. :)
And now...sleep...

This was a great mission. I'm still 230 loot short. And to me I've been everywhere. Is there any loot in the water? I say even with my gamma maxed, I can't see a thing. I think flares need to be added to this. I actually went back to Bad Debts just to see how short of loot I was there, 347 loot. I love trying to find all the nooks and crannies. I'm amazed at how skilled some of these authors are at creating perfect rooms, ledges, roofs, and just plain old great missions. I wouldn't have the time nor patience to do a mission. I really would love to though. Have lots of old maps I created from my Dungeons and Dragons days 20 years ago. :)

You've got the wrong shaft, mate.
EDIT: Chiron: Have you found the rejection letter to Lord Bafford? Try having a look around there. Then think about how you can get higher from there.
Thank you.
Lol...I wasn't even talking about that gate, but I was having a lot of fun.
I actually meant that one:

One, in
a flooded generator room (or maybe it's officially called a warehouse, not sure).
