Try uninstalling DTV. If you're using DarkLoader, then all you do is scroll to the top and select the original T2 and hit 'install.' If FMSel, I believe you just have to delete the entire folder, but save your game saves before doing so. I may be wrong on FMSel, so someone help me out.

Then re-install DTV and see if that helps.

Thief 2 installed by TafferPatcher to 1.21, then manually upgraded to 1.22.
new_mantle enabled
Using FMSel

XP Pro SP3
Pagefile set to 2046-4092 MB
3.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
Board: Intel Corporation DG33FB
2048 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GSO w/500 MB RAM (Driver 340.52)
WD HD 500 GB w/ 64 MB cache
Realtek High Definition Audio (onboard)
avast! Antivirus (running silent, but running...! )
FireFox running, piping in a radio station...!)

I only experienced a slight drop in FPS in certain outdoor areas. My rig is an antique compared to those who seemed to have severe problems - it must be install related. I got lucky for a change, I guess.

The mission was great, Thanks, Nicked. The read-ables were superb. I played on Expert. The AI was surprisingly high-strung! I had to refer to The Forum repeatedly for clues, but always after wracking my brains for quite some time.

I only had one technical glitch. I did a Quick Save, then restarted FMSel, and the problem was gone.
After I mopped up the Thralls with the Fiery Sword, I was heading towards the Mine when some of the textures blanked out or were replaced by others.
