The zombies not being in the mines is not the same thing as Marianne disappearing. The zombies didn't disappear, they simply came up above ground while you were finding your way out of the crypt. So the undead roaming around the mansion are the same ones that were in the mines (at least some of them are).

How strange! I've still been unable to reproduce the issue even after many plays and with lots of saving, reloading and moving the body to different places. I'll take a look at the physics dimensions and see if there's anything untoward there - all I can think is that the collision detection is failing somehow if you get too far from the body or something. Accursed bug!
I took another quick look at the properties of object 2521 and the set up around it, but couldn't find anything out of ordinary. Unless you have used S&R or indirect scripts such as TrapMoveRelative to move the object, which I doubt. Another thing I noticed is that she derives from Zombie archetype, which generally contains creatures that are not meant to be picked up and dropped; so an important property might be missing. But honestly I have forgotten so much about DromEd that I wouldn't be able to say without a major refresh of my knowledge...

Thanks for that incredibly enjoyable mission, definitely on my "top ten of all time" list !
Finished with
3632 loot & 4 secrets, but there's one thing I don't get about the stats :
Why only 4 secrets ?
I definitely found the following :
- gallery
- 2x piano
- 1x money above balcony
- 1x moneybox high up in cave
- fertilizer vine
all of them doublechecked by revisiting later
- what secret(s) have I missed, which of mine didn't count ?cheers,
Cooper
That
moneybox up in the cave, I'm missing that one. where is it?Anyway, amazing mission. It lagged a bit in the outdoor areas, but everything run fine. I loved the "sharp" shadows, and that pitch-black darkness could be used in more FMs, loved that.

After climbing up the long ladder from the ground of the cave you reach a room with an open tomb. Shoot a rope arrow into the beam at the outer left corner. The moneybox sits on a wall projection there. I have put up a screenshot here where to put the rope arrow.

Or you can just jump and frob the box as you run by. :sly:

Finally got around to playing this over the weekend - awesome mission nicked, might even be your best to date. I really loved the dark areas and the requirement to use the lantern, it made for a very scary and tense journey both down and then up again through the mines and crypt. I'm surprised other authors haven't really used this feature as extensively as this mission did, seems like the perfect setup for a game that is so light/dark oriented. Great puzzles and story too, as usual you made a very in-depth effort to create a back story and purpose for most of the objectives and events unfolding around you. I'll admit it was frustrating at first not being able to harm the vampires in any way, but it all but made up for it after getting the sword and wreaking some havoc afterwards. I did find the piano puzzles frustrating though, as I'm not very musically inclined.
Also - thanks for pushing the technical limits in your mission. I think more of this is needed to keep Thief fresh and semi up-to-date, and while you'll probably leave a few old dinosaurs behind in the dust, you might actually gain several more new Thief players that have a tough time accepting graphics from 15 years ago. Someone out there has gone through a lot of effort to create New Dark and it would be a shame not to take advantage of the technical advantages it's providing us. I'm a little surprised there were so many issues with taffers updating their Thief install to the most recent version of New Dark (it's been out for 2 years now with no real change in installation methods), but glad to see everyone finally worked it out in the forums here.
In any case, keep of the great work, already looking forward to your next mission. Anything in the works?

Well first, a patched version of this to fix a few glitches. :p
After that, I've got plenty more ideas in the works; nothing concrete yet though.

Running this thing through DarkLoader with no problems. I NEVER have problems with DL, except that it seems to occasionally corrupt the darkloader.ini file.
Am in the process of writing a summarized walkthrough with lots of pictures and pointing arrows for the puzzle impaired.
I met Clastor's ghost, who gave me the Knight's Seal. I've read nothing about doing a ritual. Apparently, it's done in the attic above the library. Been dragging Marianne around with me. I'm almost ready to drop her into a deep hole. :grr:
ffox on 2/10/2014 at 14:07
The ritual only applies to Expert. Read the book in the otherwise empty bookcase in the library.
Ricebug on 2/10/2014 at 22:06
And this "ritual" gives my Flint & Steel the ability to light the lanterns in the mines? Sort of a bummer, since I've already been through the mines.
